Description of 1967 Jaguar 420 |
Up for sale is my 1967 Jaguar 420 sedan, with rare "ragtop" Automatic RHDFrom muscle car era, Sun roof opening is twice the size of most sunroofs and has convertible feel with windows down. 4 wheel discs, rear inboard, alloy suspension parts. Car is to be considered as half-restored. The car runs and drives well, but is going to be needed going over by a restorer (yourself?) There are many trim parts present but not installed History. I have owned the car since about 1990, current license Plate is 2010, so I used it as a daily driver for a year then, That was the only time it was in use since 1980 when imported from Paris (hence yellow headlights). Owner in the 80s did extensive welding of rust areas (butt welding of sheet metal sections, believe he had the suspension all off. Reassembly somehow got an XKE spec rear end installed nice but geared low for Auto Trans. (good around town or island, secondary roads but high revs at interstate speed limit) I blasted and did body work over welding years ago and it has held up well. Also at that time; new original spec exhaust, re-cored radiator, rubber brake and servo parts. Have set of new jag rear springs included, ones on car seem good also. Known issues rear carb has blocked idle passage only an issue when throttle is closed drives fine. Lost temp sensor in manifold so blocked off temporarily, may be leak in heater core not sure seems accessible to get to repair shop. Cold weld on block. no recent problem. Blue leather interior, wood dash and door trim. Manual windows go up down with very few turns. Car is in Tryon, North Carolina |
