Description of 1988 Jaguar XJS |
This is a clean. Jaguar coupe conversion to convertible by Coach Builders. Hess and Eisenhardt. These Conversions are getting harder to find. especially with lower mileage. Back in 1988 the only way you could own a convertible Jaguar was to buy a Coupe from Jaguar Motors for approx $40K and have a Coach Builder do the Conversion for an add'l $20K. By 1989 Jaguar introduced their factory made convertible and quickly purchased as many of the conversions as possible and had them destroyed. I bought this car a year ago for a friend that then decided he didn't want a second car so he signed it back over to me in July. The man I bought the car from last March had just done lots of work. He had it freshly painted white and it was a very nice job and a new convertible top. He had the interior wood refinished and some work on seats. console and door panels. He also added a very good sound system with a CD player and an antenna that is hidden. fastened to the windshield behind the rear view mirror and eliminated the retractable one at the back. The chromed wire wheels look good on the car and the tires show plenty of tread but I would replace them for extended driving. Mechanically this Jaguar runs out beautifully. A/C blows cold. all four windows work as the should as does the power top. This Jaguar starts right up and drives straight down the road effortlessly and super smooth. Front end is tight and so are the brakes. The only thing that doesn't seem to read accurately is the fuel gauge. The others are spot on. This is by no means a show car. but a really great runner with low miles and becoming increasingly hard to find. I would hold onto this H & E conversion if I had the storage space for it as I am certain it will only increase in value. Turns a lot of heads and is really a beautiful convertible Jaguar. I have set the reserve low as I just do not have storage space. Located in South Florida just outside of Miami. Thanks for looking. |
