Description of 1962 Jaguar E-Type |
Gallery Junction presents 1962 Jaguar Series 1 XKE OTS LHD 3.8 Liter Roadster 1962 Represents one of the most sought after years for XKE enthusiasts and this example is a must for the discerning collector. Taking what they had learned on the track with the D-type and applying it to a new road model, Jaguar’s new E-Type featured a monocoque passenger compartment and tail section, a tube-framed engine bay, and a tilting bonnet. With its well-appointed interior, civilized 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, and a compliant suspension, the E-Type was an ideal two-seater sports car. Sweeping lines and an aggressive yet undeniably sensual stance meant the new Jaguar had looks previously seen only on Italian cars. The motoring press ate it up, and sales of the E-Type went through the roof. Considered by Enzo Ferrari to be one of the most beautiful cars he had ever seen, this example is no exception. Gallery Junction is pleased to offer this 1962 Series 1 Roadster. This stunning example came from a California collector who regularly maintained and drove the car. This example comes with its Jaguar Heritage Certificate documenting it as a numbers matching vehicle with the engine number, data pate and Heritage certificate all in agreement. This car was produced 14th June 1962 and dispatched 27th June 1962. The early Series 1 cars equipped with the 3.8L engine are becoming harder and harder to acquire and this is an excellent example for any collection. It runs and drives very well and shows wonderfully in Carmen Red with a Black Leather Interior and Tan convertible top. The car features a very solid body with amazing gaps, lines and floors. The paint and body work are stunning, zero orange peal in the paint and just clean solid smooth lines and reflections. The stainless and chrome trim along with the chrome wire wheels accent the car most accordingly. Now for one of the best parts of the vehicle, according to the Heritage certificate the car was originally finished in Black with a Red Leather interior and a Black Top. Under JCNA guidelines for judging no points will be deducted for a car finished in a period correct color, so drive show and enjoy as is. Or, return to the original color scheme and have one of the most prized XKE's around no doubt. Please contact us for any additional pictures or information. We offer Facetime or video- walk arounds.
