Description of 1970 Jaguar E-Type

1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 2+2 Coupe This Jaguar is listed on behalf of a good friend. It is hard to know where to start with this 1970 Jaguar E- Type. To many. the E-Type is one of the most beautiful iconic sports cars of the era. Even Enzo Ferrari described it as such. Owning one myself. I can honestly say the Jaguar catches the eye of almost every passerby. If you are an enthusiast. you already know the specifications of the car. The basic facts are this is a Series 11. 4. 2L straight six cylinder. 4- speed 2+2 coupe. Call this Jaguar’s answer to being able to take the practical family for spirited drive. There were a mere 1433 of these cars made in 1970. 299 right hand drive for the home UK market . and 1134 left hand drive for export (mostly the US). The question is. if the Jaguar is so wonderful. why sell? The owner is collector and thoroughly enjoyed owning and driving the E-Type. His goal was to go through the entire car and make it quite presentable. with the purpose of enjoying the time behind the wheel. First came addressing any bodywork and repainting. To that end. the Signal Red color is amazingly brilliant. While all the chrome was not redone. much if it was. including the bumpers and some trim. With the exterior paint and body looking great. it was came new chrome wire wheels and tires. new gas tank. and a significant going through the engine and mechanicals. The new aluminum radiator (Jackson Racing) insures it will never run hot. All the work was done by local shops and resources quite proficient classic Jaguars (some of the same that helped with mine). As a result. it fires right up and runs strong. While now ready to drive. next it was time to work on the trim and interior. All the rubber seals were replaced. as was the carpet. This is where fate stepped in and through a curve ball. Mike (the owner) fell. fracturing his ankle. The injuries lead to a fusion of his left ankle. That would be his clutch foot! All of a sudden. his dream of enjoying his E-Type came to an end. It is nearly impossible for him to drive the car at this point. at least without significant pain. So. alas. the E-Type must find a new home. preferable with someone else who will be able to finsih what Mike started. being able to cherish and enjoy the car. Here is the disclosure. Clearly the major work to make this car an exceptional driver has been done. Mike has the $19. 00 in receipts documenting the work. which will go with the car. along with the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. The E-Type still needs some work. but most all I would classify as the kind of things than many can easily do in their own garage. such as freshening up the rest of the interior trim. The stainless rear silencers (mufflers) look great. but the center sections and pipes should be replaced (Bell Stainless is my personal choice). Mike wrestled with deciding what to do about the AC. which is not functional. I just removed mine. liking the way the dash looked without the AC vents. Then again. I have a roadster. The power steering is functional; however the belt was removed. as no one seems to like an E-Type with power steering. The popular modification is to install a manual steering rack. which is readily available and pretty easy to install. Again. I would say most all the major things are quite sorted. making this a great choice of a car for someone who wants to opportunity to tinker a bit. We have plenty of more pictures if necessary. and are pleased to answer questions or concerns. Someone is going to be a very proud owner of this classic Jaguar E-Type!
