Description of 1977 Jeep CJ

Freshly completed frame-off restoration that started with media blasting, ll rust removed (see pictures). I spent a year and a half, undreds of hours, nd nearly $30kon this project. I had no intentions of selling it and built this to keep for a long, ong time but some recent family and job changes have me listing it now. I am not desperate to sell it but will if the bid is right. This Jeep is not perfect but it is pretty darn close. There are very, ery few parts/pieces that are not new or refurbished. I am going to do my best to describe this vehicle as accurately as possible and not offer a bunch of fluff like I see on most vehicle listings. I have not been arounda ton of CJ's but this is the nicest one I have personally ever seen.

Body

- Completely disassembled and media blasted to start

- All rust holes cut out and new steel welded into place

- All holes from previous soft-top hardware were welded in

- Rear floor and wheel wells were rusted beyond repair and were replaced with new, igh quality,American madereproductions (no BS Omix or cheapFilipino parts)

- New tailgate

- New windshield frame, lass, nd gasket

- Body was hammered as straight as could be (CJ's were certainly not straight when brand new)

- Underside was coated in high quality black bedliner

- Firewall, nside of fenders, nside of grille, nd underneath of hood were painted with heavy duty black semi-gloss anti-corrosion paint

- Inside of tub was properly primed and coated with Quartz Gray Monstaliner. Monstaliner is a bedliner like coating made specifically for Jeep tubs and is UV resistant. It is an epoxy coating and takes a while to cure when conditions are not perfect. It was cold out when I installed and little bit of dust did stick to the liner while it cured. The dust isonly visible on thetops of the wheel wells. I have an unopened Monstaliner kit that will be included with the purchase so if you want you can easily scuff the surface and apply. I was going to hold onto the kit and reapply some years down the road if/when it got nicked up and needed touch up.

- Exterior was smoothed, rimed, moothed some more, rimed again, anded some more, rimed again and then painted with a Metallic Gray paint. The paint has a hint of blue in it and turned out nice. It was not finished to the level you would see on a winning show car but it is very nice. There is a rock chip on the driver side fender up towards the hood. Also, hile completing the reassembly, opened my garage door not realizing the hood was up and scraped about a 10" section of the hoods leading edge towards the passenger side. The area was repaired and you can see where the repair was if you are looking for it. Casually walking around the Jeep it does not jump out at you.

- Applied a newPhoenix Graphics decal kit - this is a very heavy duty decal kit ($350)

- All stainless steel hardware throughout. Except where grade 8 needed (seats, tc.) Close to $500 worth of stainless and grade 8 hardware used throughout

- I have a new Bestop black bikini top still in the box. Never mounted it because I lover the full open air feel. Also will includea newmounting strip for this top

- Comes with 2 soft doors which are a bit older. the vinyl is in decent shape but the windows are yellowed and have small cracks. I never drove this with the doors on.

- Comes with Bestop soft top hardware so if you want a full top you just need to get the cloth. I welded in all of the holes needed to mount a full top so I hope you do not drill into this jeep!

Interior

- Bestop sliding/reclining/folding front seats - near new

- Bestop folding and tumbling rear seat. Can be quickly removed when needed - near new

- All new seatbelts

- New dash pad

- New polished windshield hinges and knobs

- Refurbished steering column

- All lights work

- All new wiring - Painless wiring kit for whole Jeep

- SpeedHut CJ gauge set. GPS speedometer so you never have to calibrate for gear or tire changes. Voltage and oil pressure gauges to match. $750 gauge set

- All new indicators and knobs

- New dash painted to match

- New Centrapod speaker housing with new Polk marine speakers

- 2 New Versapods with new Pold marine speakers - mounted between front seats and side of jeep

- New Kenwood marine head unit w/ Bluetooth audio control - mounted in new Tuffy lockable center console

- Pedals/Pedal shafts refurbished

- Heater box refurbished - New heater core - Heater fan is wired and works but I did not install new vent tubes. The tubes are hard to find and this is a nice weather Jeep for me so I didn't try too hard to find the vent tubes

Engine

- 4.2L 258 Straight 6 out of a 1986 CJ

- Was rebuilt by the previous owner in 2003. I took it apart and everything looked great, o scaring or major/unusual wear anywhere. Reassembled with all new gaskets.

- Runs good and sounds good

- Painted with black semi-gloss enamel

- New carburetor installed in 2013

- New radiator installed in 2013

- Runs at perfect temperature

Transmission

- T150 3-speed manual

- Overhauled in 2003

- I partially disassembled it and everything looked good. Shifts as smooth as you would expect a CJ to shift

- Clutch has about 70% life remaining

- Clutch pedal linkage from pedal to throw arm replaced with new greasable unit

- Throw bearing new

- Pilot bushing new

Frame

- Whole Jeep was disassembled. Frame was in great shape, nly rust was at the rear body mount holes. The rust was cutout and new steel welded in place. Frame was then thoroughly cleaned/stripped, repped, nd painted with heavy duty rust inhibitor paint. Inside of frame was treated with a rust inhibiting coating.

Rest of Chassis/Drivetrain

- Axles disassembled and rebuilt. All new seals front and back. All gears in great shape. Both axles painted

- Hubs cleaned and reassembled

- 4WD works great

- New front drive shaft installed

- All U Joints on drive line replaced with new, igh quality, reaseable units

Steering/Brakes/Suspension

- All new ball joints

- New Shocks

- Painted leaf springs which were in great shape

- New shackles

- All new tie-rods and tie-rod ends

- New steering stabilizer

- Steering boxweaps grease slightly but this Jeep steers great with little effort

- Vehicle tracks straight at highway speed

- No heavy shake or wobble like many jeeps with big tires. Drives great and tracks well

- All new stainless steel brake lines

- All new brakes (shoes, rums, ll hardware)

- Backing plates painted

- 33" BFG All Terrain T/A tires - 1 brand new, ther 3 were new in 2013 and have almost no use on them

Miscellaneous

- New wiper motor

- New wiper arms and blades

- New polished mirrors

- New stainless hood hardware including vent cover

- New Painless wiring kit. All wires new except for a few feet of engine compartment wiring

- Exhaust painted. Some paint has flaked off from use

- New front bumper

- Warn rear bumper, reshly painted. Has hitch receiver built in

I will reiterate that I have tried to be as accurate as possible while listing these details. In the "Condition" section of this listing I included the few things that are not hooked up or working properly. I ran out of characters in that space and the only other item not hooked up is the windshield washer. I have not been able to find a replacement nozzle. There is a newtank and pump installed but no tube or nozzle.

If you are a serious bidder and have questions please ask. The Jeep is located in Maryland and I encourage you to come look at it before bidding. Message me and we can make arrangements for you to come see it. Thank you.
