Description of 1949 Jeep CJ CJ3A

This rig is listed at a *fraction* of the cost of what's been put into it. The previous owner told me this rig was custom built as a Sand Dune racer in California. It's a really fun vehicle and runs fantastic. I really wasn't planning to sell it. in fact I just spent $1200 on new 33" Goodyear tires with lifetime road-hazard warranty a couple of weeks ago. I've been using it as my daily driver. but I need something that fits more than 2 people. It's surprisingly quick! It will hold 65 MPH up any mountain pass on the Interstate while barely touching the gas. won't even break a sweat. Drop the accelerator. and you pass cars like they're standing still. The v8 motor is very strong. but when you combine it with such a small / light vehicle. it's just crazy. The motor fires right up and runs great. doesn't burn any oil. I believe it is a reproduction CJ3A steel body on a 1968 CJ5 frame. The frame has been boxed and reinforced to support the extra horsepower. and the roll cage is tied into the frame as well. I do have a clear Colorado title in my name. The paint job is probably 20 years old. so is faded but still looks okay. I can't stop for gas or pull up to a stoplight without someone drooling over it or asking questions. There is rust on the very bottom of the tub near the body mounts (See last picture). but otherwise very solid. The fabrication work is top-notch. Welds are clean. and the parts / materials used to build it are all high quality. Here are some of the details. but I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff:- High-Performance Small Block Chevy V8 - I'm not sure what all has been done to it. but was told it's around 350 to 375hp. - Mallory Electronic Ignition- Holley Carb- TH400 Automatic Transmission with manual-shift Valve Body- B&M Gate Shifter- Brand-New Goodyear 33" Wrangler Duratrac Tires- Reinforced / Boxed frame and engine/transmission supports- Adjustable Rancho suspension- Brand-new Bestop Tiger Top with doors- Race belts with mounting points for 4 or 5 point harnesses- Dual Exhaust with Long Tube Headers- Full roll cage. (Not just a beefed up roll-bar. an actual full cage that completely surrounds the driver/passenger - top. sides. and bottom. Seats are bolted into the cage. not the tub)- Bunch of other Regulation race safety equipment. (driveshaft hoops. transmission shield. etc)The suspension is set up for street/race. so it is a little stiff. If you're going to build it into a rock crawler. you'll want softer springs for sure. The seats are super-comfy and soak up most of the bumps really well. The Rancho air suspension could probably be adjusted better to soften the ride some. I just haven't messed with it. It's a fantastic start for a Rock Crawler. Dune Buggy. or Ice Racer. or just leave it as-is and have fun around town. Feel free to call or text if you'd like to see it in person. or have any questions. Thanks-Timcell: 719-357-7045
