Up for your bid is a fantastic 1983 Full Size Jeep Cherokee. This is the last year of the fullsize two door. This one is a narrow track body, hich means it does not have the big bubble fender flares. Only about 20 percent of the Cherokees were narrow track. Many have had the fenders cut for bigger tires, his one is bone stock. The history of the truck is quite interesting. It was originally on a military base in Florida and used as a security patrol vehicle. Unlike most military vehicles this one did not get a bunch of stuff added on or holes drilled. It pretty much is the same as a civilian issued Cherokee. It is a base model 4x4 and was equipped with a manual transmission. The only option was air conditioning, nd prior to the start of the restoration it still blew ice cold.A minister in Michigan purchased the truck from the government and painted it white (It was originally tan). He also did an amateur restoration which included going through the axles, uspension, nd brakes. A four inch all spring lift kit was installed, nd a roof rack and tube bumpers. He used it for several years to tow canoes on youth camping trips, ut eventually needed a larger vehicle so he sold it to me.I purchased the vehicle and drove it for a summer before starting my project. I removed and sold the original 258 engine, our speed manual, nd transfer case with intentions of replacing them with a 4bt Cummins P-pump engine, V4500 trans, nd 241 transfer case. My family outgrew the rig faster than I could get it finished so it has been sitting in the corner of my shop partially dismantled for several years. We are now moving to a smaller shop so this needs to go, y loss is your gain. The truck is amazingly solid. I have put a magnet all over and have not found any filler. The underside and frame are excellent as well. The only "serious" rust I know of on the vehicle is a small spot behind the passenger side tire, bout a 2 inch surface patch, nd the frame has a rust/wallowed out hole at the rear most body mount spot on the drivers side. It looks like a body mount went loose and wore it's way through. I have a whole new body mount set for the truck. The truck has never seen salt, nd the first picture is how it looked the day before dismantling. Over the last few years the roof rack and wheels and tires have been used on other projects so they are not included in the sale. It now sits on a set of mismatched rollers as seen in the other pictures. The only pieces not there to complete the rig are the motor, rans, nd transfer case. You could put your stock stuff in, r swap your engine of choice into it. If the high bidder is interested, will sell my 4bt, v4500 (2wd Cummins version, ave mainshaft and tailhousing to convert to 4x4), ellhousing, lywheel, nd np241 (front half of case only) and advance adapters slip yoke eliminator kit, nd pretty much everything you need to swap a 4bt in this rig, or another $4,500. Otherwise this sale does not include a drivetrain. There is no carpet. It had a big grease stain on it and I removed it.The front axle is a Dana 44 and the rear is the good one piece style AMC 20The interior pieces are in pretty good shape. There is some ripping on drivers seat. In the pics the inside of the tailgate looks rusty, t is not, hat is glue residue from carpet. The rear tailgate is the rare hand crank style and works flawlessly. The floors and everything are solid. It is packed back up and the front end is sitting on it ready to travel.I am listing this at No Reserve.
