The year was 1979. The Village People’s Y.M.C.A was selling over 150,000 copies a day, The Dukes of Hazzard premiered on CBS, and the Jeep brand was building their empire, adding the notoriously capable CJ7 into it’s lineup. Although much has changed since 1979, one thing certainly hasn’t; Jeep’s deep tradition of rugged, well built off-road machines. Although Jeep built quite a handful of various CJ models over the years, to find a true survivor with such deep roots in the mud is always exciting. Have we got a treat for you! Buckle up!

Where do we begin? This jeep is so original and so true to form it’s almost hard to believe that it’s lived most of it’s life in central Illinois! The gentleman we purchased this truck from has owned over 60+ Jeeps over his entire life. In fact, Jeep is the only vehicle him and his family have owned over the years, minus one small stint in a Toyota. Yes, this mud-loving family understands that “it’s a Jeep thing”, and have taken very good care of all of their vehicles over the years, including this extremely clean CJ7. They bought the Jeep from a friend in their local Jeep club, who was believed to be the original owner of it. It didn’t take long for the new owner to start tearing into it, making it into the mud machine you see in the pictures. The first thing he did was swap out the stock axles for new wide track Dana 40’s for stability. While he was at it he made sure to include true Detroit Locker hubs to keep all 4 wheels spinning. To complete the look he added a 4” lift and 33” Super Swamper TSL’s that will climb over, through, or around any obstacle in their path. Combine that with the original 304ci V8 and the 3 speed manual, and you’ve got an awesome on-road truck that’s quick to turn heads, and a very capable off-road machine that just loves turning the tires! I call this a “bucket-list” truck. If you’ve never ridden in a lifted up Jeep with the rag top and doors off, while the musics cranking and the sun’s baking, you really don’t know what you’re missing.
