Description of 1979 Jeep CJ Golden Eagle |
This Jeep was bought brand new by my neighbor in 1979. I got it from him about 16 years ago. It has always been garage kept. Body- I repainted this Jeep 15 years ago and it has held up very well. There are no rust patches and no body filler anywhere on the body. Fenders were replaced t when I painted the Jeep. I did not repaint the grill or the dashboard so you can see the color match is perfect. There are some small bubbles at some of the spot weld, on the rear of the tub and on the rear of the Jeep. As shown in the pictures. The original color is russet metallic. I was going to put the Golden Eagle decals back on it, but never did. I have the original side steps that came with the Jeep when new, as shown in the picture. I just happen to like the look of the nerf bars better. The bumpers are about an eight-inch thick solid steel, and I do not know the manufacturer. Original rims that have never been repainted. Original tires are still on the Jeep, the spare has never been down. The tire size is 9 - 15 LT. Goodyear Tracker AT. Engine-All stock 304 V8. Starts right up and runs great. Power brakes, power steering work as they should. I still have the original belt driven pollution pump that I removed years ago. as shown in the picture. Transmission shifts as it should. Transfer case works well also. I put a clutch in it about four thousand miles ago it works perfect. Manual Warn hubs work as they should. The snow plow has been mounted to this Jeep since 1979. This Jeep has never been off road. You really can't do that with a snow plow frame hanging under it. I have been using this Jeep to plow my driveways for the past 16 years, and it has served me very well. The plow frame is bolted on, so it is removable. The engine compartment never has been detailed and painted. Undercarriage-The jeep has never been sandblasted and repainted so there is some surface rust on it. It has a Flowmaster muffler on it and it sounds really nice with the V8. Also there is a metal patch over a rust hole in the driver side floor. Not professionally done, from the original owner. Interior-All gauges including the tachometer work as they should with the exception of the clock. The clock does not work. Original key with the knockout still intact.. There is an after-market console.. It has tilt steering, original seats no rips or tears. The original dashboard has no cracks in it. I do not know if the carpet is original or not, but it is in good condition the original Jack is in the bag next to the driver seat. The heater works well. The top is aftermarket, Bestop the date on the window says 02-02-95 with no rips, or tears. All windows are clear with a few minor scratches. All zippers work as they should. All of the hardware for the soft top is original. a couple of the snaps from the soft top to the body tub do not line up behind the spare tire. This Jeep is not perfect, but it is very nice. And it is the most original that I have ever seen. The history and condition of this Jeep are described to the best of my ability. All pictures were taken within the last two days. I have been parking in the same spot in my garage for years and there are no puddles, or drip marks on the floor. Clear title in my name. Jeep is located in Bensenville Illinois 60106.
