Description of 1986 Jeep CJ

This is sold as is where is. No shipping. I will try & describe it the best I can. good & bad so you know what you are getting. If I missed something just askThis is a '86 Jeep CJ 7 I bought for some parts. I have taken off what I wanted & I am selling what's left. There are some excellent parts on here & overall it is not a bad Jeep. I do have a good clean IL document that goes with the Jeep. This will have to be trailered. does not run. No idea on condition of engine. trans & case. Do not expect a ready to go machine. I have never used it or seen it used I'm just gonna start from the ground up. The wheels are decent chrome Jeep rims. tires are junk. Couple slowly leak. Just put these on it. No idea on the brake system. I know there is a bad line on the rear diff. Does have power brake booster. The differentials are where it gets good. Someone put a lot of $ into them. The rear is an AMC 20 with 1 piece axle shafts. I think they are Moser. Has the big "M" & "E" stamped in the end plate. Has what appears to be a Lock-Right locker in it. 4. 10 gears. All teeth are good. front & back. When I took the cover off. the gear lube looked new. Rear diff may need gasket or silicone. Front cover looks to have a good gasket yet. Both diffs have no fluid in them. The front diff I think is a Scout Dana 30 or Scout knuckles on a Jeep diff. Has the long arms off of the knuckles where the tie rods hook up. From a Scout. The axle shaft housing is 2. 75" OD. I assume it is a Dana 30. One lock out is IH & the other is Mile Marker. It has 4. 09 gears & some kind of locker. I do not know the brand. Has Skyjacker lift springs. not sure how much lift. Front right leaf pack has a bent main spring in the back. Good little bend. I assume you can replace 1 leaf pack. Not sure if it can be straightened out right or not. The frame of the Jeep is in very. very good condition. Yes. paint is all gone & it is rust colored but no big flakes or thin spots that I seen. Even in the usual bad Jeep spots. Very solid frame throughout. Heavy duty bumpers front & rear. Has no radiator. The steering gearbox has a stiffener on it or brace. All steering components are there. Reservoir is dry it looks. Has a 304 sitting in it. Turns over. not stuck. No carb. Has headers & nice full dual exhaust. Starter & distributor on it. no alternator. Edelbrock aluminum intake. Has an auto tranny in it & a Dana 20 transfer case it looks like. I assume the auto is a Turbo 400 from a fullsize Jeep back in the day but not sure. I know nothing about the engine. trans or case. Has a wratcheting floorshifter in it. Looks like someone has a put a painless wiring harness of some sort in it. No idea of what's done. what's right or what's wrong. The body itself is actually in fairly good shape. It has patch panels in the floor & the inside has been rhino lined. Very solid floorboards on the inside. the whole inside floor is solid. Some body mounts look iffy. Front fenders are very good. Hood has most paint gone & some rust colored spots. No holes or weak spots. Grill is good. Windshield frame has a lot of rust & bubbles starting & some flaking. I think it all can be fixed easy enough. Although I have not looked at the bottom of the windshield frame. Glass is broke. Has stainless steel hinges. The back right corner of the tub. on top. has been stoved in somehow. It's in 1 of the pics. Overall the body is pretty decent. I myself have driven a lot worse than this. It looks pretty good but there has been repairs done to it. Although it is solid. This is an exc. Jeep to build a toy or crawler with. The big $ have already been spent in the diffs. It is sold as is where is. You are welcome to come look at it. No shipping. Easy to load here. Please mail. call or text w/?'s. I will be happy to help. Bill 309-945-5161 Good Luck & Thank You On Jan-28-15 at 16:08:25 PST. seller added the following information: Upon further inspection. because I did not really look that close before. sorry. The transfer case is a Dana 300 & the tranny looks to be a Chrysler. Do not know what one. Might be 727. not positive. I just assumed what it was & did not look them over close enough
