The truck rides and drives excellent with a strong powerful drivetrain. The interior and exterior are very clean to excellent and it has not been restored and therefore retains and beautifully original feel. All functions and options are in working condition and I must stress cosmetically this example is far superior to most "unrestored" examples available today. The Jeep Wagoneer was the first luxury 4x4. sold and produced until 1991. With its original design and origins dating back the the "Kaiser/Jeep" era of the late 1950's and early 1960's. Originally produced in 1963 the Wagoneer was a "sport utility vehicle" (SUV) decades before the term was even coined. the 4WD Wagoneer saw only minor mechanical changes during its 28-year plus production run. the third longest in U. S. automotive history. Introduced as a successor to the Willys Jeep Station Wagon that had been built since the end of World War II. the Wagoneer pioneered the sport utility vehicle concept. In spite of its pickup truck chassis and boxy shape it was more carlike than any 4x4 on the market. Compared with offerings from other manufacturers the Wagoneer's unique luxury set it apart. Based on the Jeep SJ platform. the revolutionary Wagoneer sported an advanced overhead cam inline 6 cylinder and later various V8 power plants. and offered features unheard of at the time in any other mainstream 4WD vehicle. such as an independent front suspension. power steering. and automatic transmission. Destined to be an all time classic this particular low mileage 1988 Grand Wagoneer began its life in Colorado where it was maintained fastidiously by its first owner until 2000 when it was purchased by its second owner in Grosse Pointe. Michigan. Having covered only 50. 00 miles in its first 12 years the Wagoneer continued to be used sparingly by its second owner who sold it in 2012 to the current owner with approximately 68. 00 miles. The current and 3rd owner of record has maintained the Wagoneer to the highest standards and is now offering it for sale with only 72. 00 original miles. In the past 2000 miles the vehicle has received a significant service with many suspension and cosmetic components replaced in order to maintain Wagoneer's superb cosmetic appearance and excellent on road manners. The body is rust free throughout and appears to be mostly original paintwork with no signs of accidents or issues. The original interior is a stunning example of leather opulence which the Grand Wagoneer introduced to the segment many years before the "Range Rover" was even produced.
