Description of 1984 Jeep Other

You're bidding on a 1984 DJ-5 Mail Jeep. It is an automatic. 2x2 drive (NOT 4x4). right-hand drive (RHD). AMG "Dispatcher" 1984 Jeep (the last year they were made). These Jeeps were custom-manufactured for the USPS as postal delivery vehicles. It is located in CORTEZ. Colorado (Zip: 81321) and has a clean Colorado title. These cool little Jeeps are still used by USPS / Post Office rural mail carriers. or will make a great restoration project for a Jeep enthusiast or collectible! It is 30+ years old. so may qualify as a "classic" for collection or other purposes such as antique vehicle registration (but be sure to check your facts in this regard. though). For a rural mail carrier. it drives. and is basically route-ready. bar some TLC (see below). Would also make a great backup RHD mail delivery vehicle. Please note. if you just wanted a cool (different) Jeep to have or drive around and impress your friends. a right-hand-drive vehicle is perfectly legal in the US (once it's licensed and insured. of course). This DJ-5 runs and has fairly good tires. The body is in fair shape for its age and application. with corresponding wear and tear that comes with carrying mail for many years. Some dents/dings. minor rust. chipped paint. mail box scratches. etc. It has heating (no AC!). Comes with a 3-tray mail tray and spare tire. (Please note. the strobe light and magnetic signs you may see on some pics are NOT included)The Jeep runs. but needs some TLC/restoration. Here a few things I (as a layman. not a mechanic) can mention in this regard:- It uses about a quart oil/day;- The cooling system has a small water leak - maybe hose. not sure;- The brakes pull to one side - maybe just needs bleeding. or new master cylinder. not sure;- The windshield is cracked (see pics);- The left-side rear window popped out (not broken or cracked) - I think it can easily be fixed/pushed back in if you know what you're doing;- The transmission sometimes jumps out of gear - don't think it's serious. probably a simple linkage fix. but not sure;- Some gauges. switches. features (e. g. hazards) do not work. Maybe just needs a fuse or two. not sure;- A bit noisy. since exhaust needs sealing/tightening up (has a new muffler. but no catalyst);- The handbrake doesn't work. There may be other issues (the Jeep is 30+ years old. after all!). but I'm not mechanically-minded. so cannot offer advice in this regard. [Note: If you want to fix this up/restore this Jeep. be sure to see my other eBay listing for a similar DJ-5. for parts only.
