Description of 1980 Jeep Other |
This used to be my occasional use hunting jeep when I lived in Kalifornia but it just takes up space here in Idaho and I want a Kubota RTV anyway. I bought it in Kalifornia as a clear titled 1974. As I started to go through it and learn about Jeeps. I found out that it was actually a 1980. so the previous owner must have titled it as a 1974 to get around the smog requirement. The old gas tank had a manufacture sticker dated 1979. It has tilt wheel and front disk brakes. which were not available in 1974. It has an unleaded fuel filler. which didn't come out until 1976 and the windshield wiper motor is inside the windshield. unlike 74 Jeeps. Even the engine block was cast in 1979 so I am 100% sure this is a 1980 Jeep with a 74 title. It is a two owner. adult owned. never hot-rodded. never made into a rock crawler. survivor. No fender flares. lift kits. fog lamps or air compressors on this Jeep. There are only a few things on it that are not stock and they are all upgrades; the Weber carb. CJ7 shoulder belts in place of the original lap belts. Black Diamond leaf springs. Pro-Comp shocks and heavy duty greasable shackles. It has no doors and no top. just a bikini top. It has 5 original 5. 5X15 rims with 10 ply 7X15 traction tires that came off a Baja racer. The whole thing is painted in military grade gray non-skid. You can't scratch it and the mud hoses right off. The engine is a straight six 258 that was just rebuilt by Swamped & Locked Off Road in Hayden and runs like a champ. The rebuild was all stock except for RV cam. which is just an upgrade. It just had its break in oil change at 1000 miles on the rebuild. It has the stock Dana 30 front axle. AMC 20 rear axle and Dana 300 transfer case. The transmission is a T-176 4-speed. which was also gone through top to bottom and has new bushings and shift gates. It has new brakes. shocks. clutch. master cylinder. front hubs. battery and gas tank. Every single thing works on this jeep including the fuel gauge. all dash lights. heater knobs. turn signals and even the 4WD engaged light. There is no rust on this Jeep. It had two little patches on the floor at the bases of the roll bar where they all get wet but I cut it out and welded in new thicker metal and primed it with POR15 before I painted the whole thing. no problem. It was in dry Kalifornia it's whole life and 19 years in storage. It also comes with a tow-bar. It will go 65 without a wobble and that's about as fast as I ever drive. This is how Jeeps are supposed to look. sit and drive. It doesn't have power steering because it doesn't need it. It will go anywhere with skinny tires. just like military jeeps. I have let a few people drive it that had jacked up Jeeps with balloon tires and they couldn't wait to get rid of that stuff after driving mine. No reserve. $6000 start price. I will drive it to the shipper of your choice in Coeur d'Alene. ID or Spokane. WA. Or you can drive it home or tow it home. Clear Idaho title in hand. |
