Description of 1972 Jeep Commando |
Rare 1972 Jeep Commando AMC 304 V8, 4WD, 3-speed auto, ragtop, mech. very good, runs great, body good except some surface rust on left side. Total mileage unknown, but less than 9000 miles on Jasper rebuilt engine, installed 2007. Uses premium gas. New exhaust system, 2018. New rocker panels 2016. Body work and paint on right side 2016. I've owned for 21 years, know it well. Has minor issues here and there, nothing major. Tires and brakes and ragtop, good (no hardtop). New bedliner in back - this is a two-seater. New front end shock stabilizer. Undercoating 2016. Strong battery - more than 700 CC amps. Always garaged, since I've owned her. Drives great, looks good, fun car. Uses, burns, no oil. Car was sold in Portland, OR, 1972, then moved to New Mexico (where I bought it in 1998), then to Decatur, GA in 2001, then to Olympia, WA, then back to Atlanta area, and finally up to Maine in 2012. I love this car, but age is catching up with me and I can't keep maintaining it. Issues: fuel gauge and temp gauge don't work. I installed after-market temp and oil pressure gauge. I fill her up every 100 miles or so (7-8 gallons). Small rust spots, left rear panel. Brakes are drum brakes and take strong pressure to stop the car, and can lock. Heater/defroster work okay (new heater core, c. 2015), but one of the controls is nonfunctioning. Brand new horn, but button on steering column to honk the horn doesn't work. Inside steering column is a mess, so car can start in any gear (!) Windows work okay, but need some coaxing now and then. Has steel plate in floor on driver's side. Wooden rear bumper, partly cut away to allow access to trailer hitch. Left hub is very stiff to lock and unlock. Contact me for any further details. There is no car title, despite the "clear" note. Title on car this old usually not needed. *SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY* *PLEASE, NO SPAMMERS* |
