DESCRIPTION
Finished in Presidential Red with black vinyl buckets and rear bench, this beautiful 1965 Kaiser JEEP CJ-5 is the perfect addition to anyone's collection. Frame-off restored 6 years ago, and then lovingly maintained, driven, and used by one family since then, the JEEP still looks and shows fantastic from every angle. The paint is clean, shiny, and glossy all around, and has very few minor marks like small scuffs or even a stone chip. You can tell from the 150 extra-large photos that it has been garage kept, and used on the weekends and during family vacations. The Bestop vinyl top still shows like new, and the plastic windows are clean and nice all around with no rips, tears, or fogging. The top fits tightly, and comes with full removable side doors as well as a Bestop BIMINI top for those days when you want a bit more air moving past you. It has tow bar hooks on the front that have not been used, as well as a rear hitch system that was used to pull a one-person Kayak to the beach parking lot and back home. Flagpole mount is still intact, as well as a removable Jerry Can mount with can and strap for display purposes. Headlights, high beams, parking lights, brake lamps, and turn signals all work as they should, and so does the horn. Steel wheels are finished in white, and wrapped in recent General GRABBER A/T radials with about 85% of the usable tread left and NO damage. The spare tire is a Uniroyal, and shows wear, but it's still functional as a spare. Windshield is clean and has no cracks, chips, or fogging. Interior is exceptionally clean with painted floors in Presidential Red, and contrasting gloss black on the center tunnel and under seat fuel tank. Floor is rock solid, with no signs of rust or rot whatsoever. Roll bar is finished in black, and shows no damage whatsoever. Black vinyl bucket seats and rear bench seat are clean, neat, and show no damage, rips, tears, seam pulls, or issues. Speedometer works and is just 2 mph slow when compared to GPS. Factory TEMP and FUEL gauges do not work, but the aftermarket TEMP gauge does work and stays at 190-193 when driving. Odometer works, and shows 36,653 currently, but the title is EXEMPT due to the age of the vehicle, and true mileage is unknown. Factory dash pulls for the lights and choke work as they should, and there is a instruction sticker on how to operate the transmission and transfer case. Glove box opens as it should, and has a clean liner. All 3 shift arms work as they should, without any issues. Foot pedals are clean, neat, and functional. Steering wheel is nice, but has faint cracks in it, and the turn signal switch has oxidation and light pitting on it but works perfectly. The folding windshield locks also show light pitting and oxidation from age, but work as they should. Emergency brake works as it should, and there are four (4) functional lap belts in the JEEP for passenger safety. Tailgate is clean and solid, and the wrapped chains hold it firmly in place. There is no sign of rust or rot on the gate inside or outside. The chassis is clean and neat, and shows the way a restored vehicle that's been driven 4,000 miles should. Light grime, dirt, and grease from servicing the chassis are present, but it still shows very nice. You can clearly see that bushings, seals, etc., are all clean and recent, and that there is no sign of any rot, rust, or damage to be found. Engine bay is just beautiful, and is ready to display at your local cruise night or car show with pride! Everything on the Hurricane 4 motor was refreshed or replaced when the full restoration was done, and it still looks and runs fantastic. You can see the newness of most of the components, and everything from the carb to the radiator was perfectly sourced to make sure that the JEEP never left its family stranded. The JEEP starts with one push of the gas pedal and a turn of the key when cold, and without the single pump when warm. It idles cleanly, and is ready to go when you are. It drives wonderfully, and has only the typical light play found in a CJ, without any major see-sawing required to keep it heading in the right direction. Chassis is firm, but takes bumps well, and there are no odd squeaks or rattles when driving. Power is surprising from the HURRICANE 4 cylinder, and it stays with modern-day traffic pretty good in town! With the gas pedal all the way down, I can cruise at a GPS verified 68 mph, and it went over 16 miles that way without issue. 55 is a real happy spot for it, and in town, you can live in 2nd gear for the most part. Braking is solid and sure, and it slows without any crazy pulling or jerking. The non-synchro transmission shifts great, and positively engages each gear. We have tested the 4wd system in all settings and it works as it should. Overall, this is one of the cleanest looking, best-driving, and straightest Vintage CJ-5's we have had through our doors, and we look forward to meeting its lucky new owner!
That's about all I can tell you, but I encourage questions and addition photo requests if it helps you make a decision.
