Description of 1986 Jeep CJ Renegade |
I bought it from the second owner about a month ago. Owner stated that the engine was rebuilt 5 years ago, and that appears to be true. Always an NC vehicle. Owner #1 was in Asheboro NC 1985-2013, second owner was in Sophia NC 2013, and owned it until a month ago. 6-digit odometer states 70,038 miles, and I judging by the seats, carpet, overall condition, etc, that appears to be true. I have an auto check that I can send a copy of, it states NO accidents, and shows the owners above. The last mileage on the documentation that I have states that it had 39,689 miles in December 1989. The rear pinion seal leaks, and the transmission leaks between the transmission and transfer case. The transmission shifts great, no grinds. No bearing noises or anything weird drive train related. Engine runs surprisingly pretty decent, all I have done to it was replace the plugs, but the last ones looked OK. I did change the oil and filter. Engine does not leak at all. Does not run hot, and it is really quiet and smooth-ish, but I'm sure there are some vacuum leaks, someone has taken some of the emissions stuff off, and there's screws/etc stopping up the lines. That yellow/green wire draped over the engine appears to be a "nutter bypass". I have only driven it maybe 6 miles since I have owned it. Original paint, obviously has some rust, but in the case of this Jeep, it is actually mostly "surface rust". The place on the passenger side is a dent (about 1/2" deep, and the paint came off), and the other places are just random places where it rusted. It's not rusted in the typical CJ places where the metal is sandwiched together on the sides close to your feet, or in the front fenders. Has a rust hole below the driver's feet, and behind the driver's seat at the roll bar mount(both pictured). Solid otherwise. Driver's seat frame is broken, that's why it has the blue ratchet strap. Has the bows/hardware for a Bestop with 1/2 doors, but no fabric other than the bottom of the doors. Has the AMC 20 rear end, and 5-speed transmission. Tires are in great condition, no dry-rot, and appear to have the year "2013" on them. Clear NC title in my name. It is at my house in Huntersville, NC. I could possibly deliver it somewhere for a pre-determined $ amount. On Jul-29-19 at 08:16:35 PDT, seller added the following information: The vehicle is in Huntersville, NC 28078. The ad says Hickory, I used to live there. Sorry. On Jul-29-19 at 08:22:08 PDT, seller added the following information: The exhaust ends right behind the muffler, the tailpipe is gone. The Catalytic converter is still there, and it looks original(still has the pipe that runs back underneath the hood). |
