Description of 1964 Jeep CJ |
navyjeep.com for more pictures and details I'd keep her forever, but I lost my right leg a few years back and I can't drive a manual transmission anymore. This great truck is an homage to my father, a US Navy vet who passed away this year. The Jeep, "Gertrude" is stenciled as a Navy Jeep of the era using actual ship and service numbers. This was not a restoration project. It was a rebuild with modifications for performance, safety, and ease of maintenance. So, my dad is gone, my leg is gone, and it's time to let the Jeep go to someone who will drive her to enjoy her as I have. What you will find - It is impossible for me to know exactly how many miles it has. The jeep was disassembled down to the frame, which was sanded and coated with POR15. Look at the hardware. Every fastener was replaced with the correct size nut and bolt except this time in stainless steel and grade 8. On the chassis look for the new shock absorbers and leaf springs all around with 1.5" lift and shackles with another 1.5" for a total lift from stock of 3", enough to get you anywhere. Look for the new brakes from the upgraded dual reservoir master cylinder to the period-correct 11" front drum brake upgrade for safety. Look for the 16 gauge steel diamond plate floorboards, the POR coating on every unseen surface, the all-steel body that was stripped to the metal before priming and painting. There are new seals and rubber everywhere. Look for the upgraded wiring all around, the gauges all work and so do the lights and they will for many years to come. Look for the Weber carburetorsetup with heavy duty fuel delivery system, the aluminum radiator, and assortment of hard-to-find spare parts. Look for the attention to detail throughout and you'll be proud to drive her and turn heads everywhere and anywhere. Specifications Weight:(Gross): 3750 lb. (1701,0 kg.) Weight:(Shipping): 2163 lb.
