Description of 1990 Jeep Wagoneer Grand Wagoneer |
I am selling my 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer to pay some bills due to purchasing a house. I do not like parting with this Jeep, but the house is the priority right now. I bought my Grand Wagoneer in Sept 2018 from a Californian (Texas transplant), who I believe drove it mostly in Texas as a daily driver before a brief time in California. The Jeep is presently in Northern Virginia (Washington, D.C. area) as I had it shipped to my present location. The mileage is fairly low (100,980) and significantly less than the other Wagoneers I have seen for sale at much higher prices on eBay. I’ve driven the Jeep less than 200 miles since purchasing as I didn’t want to rack up miles on it. The underbody, the doors, door jams, and wheel wells are mostly rust-free with nothing beyond minor surface rust. The paint appears to be original with a few noticeable nicks on the tailgate. The wood grain panels are slightly faded and there is some minor warping on one panel, so I recommend eventually replacing them although they look okay presently. In the past year, I have spent $5,800 in total at three garages that each made updates to the point I am comfortable driving the vehicle as a daily driver. I’ll pass you copies of the receipts if you want them. The mechanics replaced the following: starter, fuel pump, ignition switch, valve cover gaskets, power steering belt, front brake hoses, front shocks, air filter, fuel filter, carburetor choke pull off, distributor cap, spark plug wire set, seven fuel hoses, ignition distributor, ignition coil, ignition coil connector, and the muffler. I also had the emergency brake repaired. I paid a local upholster $3,200 to replace the carpet completely (with thick padding underneath), the headliner, the sun visors, and the original, nonfunctional American Sunroof Corporation sunroof with a new Hollandia 700-II Comfort sunroof. The upholsterer also tightened and resealed the roof rack. The 4X4 functions correctly and shifts out smooth. All gauges, lights, and windows function fine. As for the doors, the lock function works; however, the unlock function is not working to unlock all the doors at once. Note, you can still manually open the doors. Rear tailgate window works properly. The one part I am having difficulty finding to upgrade is the rear window wiper assembly, hence the gorilla tape over the hole where the wiper should be resting. My favorite mechanic said he tried to put the wiper piece back into place although the wiper motor is not working, but the gaskets are missing. I have yet to come across a used or aftermarket gasket set or wiper motor. The previous owner added the aftermarket radio, and she replaced the radiator in 2015. The radio works fine, but I noted just recently the front right speaker is not working properly as sometimes it is on and sometimes it drops out. I have not investigated to see whether the issue is a loose wire or the speaker. The previous owner passed me the original 1990 window sticker (total price was $30,539) and owner’s manual, which I will of course pass to the winning bidder. I intended my next upgrade to be the front seats and middle console since the passenger seat and middle console have rips, but I am stopping short of making that upgrade. I suspect a previous owner had a dog that was often in the front passenger seat based on the scratch marks and slits. On the flip side, the back seat is in great shape. Although I have replaced just about everything related to starting the Jeep (e.g. starter, fuel pump, spark plugs, and multiple ignition parts), I generally have to crank the ignition a couple times to start the Jeep when cold. After I cruise around and turn off the Jeep, I have to crank the Jeep a solid five times to start it again although the engine is warm. A mechanic probably needs to take a look at the Jeep again to bring the crank number down. The last mechanic replaced the fuel pump when I took the Jeep in for the “too many cranks†issue. Some minor repairs you will need to do: 1. The Jeep hood emblem / ornament is somewhat crooked and will need to be tightened. I had the Jeep out in the snow once last year and carelessly brushed hard against the emblem while clearing snow off the hood. 2. While adjusting the mirror the other day, I pulled the mirror off the windshield. It's just a matter of adding adhesive. 3. The tailgate molding will have to be riveted back in place. I have the original part that the previous owner passed to me, and I didn't get around to adding the piece. 4. The spots on the lower driver side door is tar / gunk. A detailer should be able to get the tar off easily, especially if a buffer is used. Lastly, I am more than willing to take the Jeep to a mechanic of your choice within 10 miles for an inspection, as long as you’re paying the mechanic for the inspection. I am also willing to meet a bidder in person near my residence to inspect the vehicle. General Terms Buyer is responsible for pick up of vehicle. Vehicle is sold as-is, no warranty. I am willing to hold on to the Jeep for up to 15 days if you need time to work out shipment. I recommend finding a shipper via Uship, which is the website I used to find a shipper to move this vehicle from California to Virginia. Deposit: I require a non-refundable $500 deposit within 48 hours of winning the auction. Payment Options: PayPal transfer or cashier’s check. All sales transactions must be completed within 7 calendar days of auction close. I will not be accepting bids from eBay users with zero feedback. |
