Description of 1986 Jeep CJ Renegade |
1986 Original Paint CJ7 Renegade. Just 65,825 miles!!! Link to YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/VOuFjbkMbgUMessage me for a complete link to my Google album! This Jeep PEGS OUT the AutoCheck score! I bought this Jeep last summer with the intention of converting it back to a stock driver and a definite keeper. Had no plans of selling, then a few months ago a very low-mileage 1986 Sebring Red CJ7 with honey interior made its way into my collection. Long story short, I don't need two 1986 Sebring Red Renegades. When I purchased this Jeep, it had chrome everywhere you can possibly add it. Chrome 20" rims, chrome grille overlay, chrome mirrors, etc. Luckily, the person I bought it from was smart enough to save the original hinges and hardware so I was able to convert it back. The Jeep has very low miles and is nicely optioned with the highly-desirable T176 4 speed transmission and Dana 44 rear axle (only available on later production 1986 CJ7s). This Jeep runs and drives perfectly. No wandering and stops on a dime. Starts right up, idles as it should and its truly a pleasure to drive. All gauges, lights, wipers, blinkers, horn, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge, fuel gauge, heater, etc. all work as they should. Engages into 4WD effortlessly and the T176 shifts perfectly too! Engine stays nice and cool, even at long-standing idle. The body is extremely nice. Aside from a very small area of superficial surface rust (see photo) on the driver side floor (and I mean almost nothing), the tub is absolutely remarkable. No dents, dings, holes where they're not supposed to be or any rot anywhere. No rust hiding under the roll bar feet either! The carpet is very nice too, but it does have a couple small cigarette burns. I'd rate the original carpet a solid 7/10 overall. As already stated, the paint is original and in excellent condition, but there are a couple small minor touch-ups performed by a previous owner. Original dash pad is in outstanding condition with no cracks. Here's pretty much an all-inclusive list of what I've done....
The only thing I'd call "not original" in style is the exhaust. It has an aftermarket exhaust on it, but I have to say it really does sound nice! Not too loud and just a slight rumble. Personally, I'd probably keep it but if you wanted to convert this Jeep back to a true stock survivor, it would only need an exhaust. This Jeep has been loved its entire lift and its obvious. It has always been garage kept and one way of confirming this is that the rocker trim is still dark anodized in color (sun faded rocker trim looks silver) and the gauge faces are still nice and bright. There is no fading on the seats either. I try to be as transparent as possible in my vehicle disclosures. I listed this Jeep as factual and honest as I possibly could. Sure, it's possible I'm missing something but I feel like I disclosed just about everything. The fine print: $500 PayPal deposit is expected within 24 hours of auction end and payment in full within 3 business days. I have a reputable shipper who is very fair and would be glad to provide you with his contact information after purchase. Other options are fly in and drive it home (I think it would make it anywhere, but remember it is 34 years old) or drive to my house with a trailer, drink a beer with me and tow your new Jeep back home.
