Call…  706-831-1899 Up for auction is a 1984 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler. This Jeep is a 2-owner Jeep with a clean Carfax and original paint. The first owner from Virginia owned the Jeep from new in 1984 until 1992. The second owner from Georgia owned it from 1992 until I bought it…The Jeep has never been in any wrecks or accidents of any kind. The second owner had the Scrambler on his quail hunting preserve in Georgia for the past 20 years. When I bought the Jeep the transmission was making some bearing noise even though it was shifting fine. We took the transmission out and sent it to ATC in Augusta who has the best reputation and does the best transmission work in our area. ATC cleaned and rebuilt the transmission with new bearings and a new reverse gear since the reverse gear had a little wear on the teeth. Now the transmission is quite. tight and it shifts like brand new. The clutch is smooth and it’s a pleasure an easy to drive. We also replaced the original plastic center bolt valve cover (they all leaked). with a brand new aluminum valve cover and gasket. We drilled and tapped the head to accommodate the valve cover bolts. (No more leaking). Also all fluids were drained and refilled. the radiator was flushed. the chassis was lubed. and all nuts and bolts were tightened and checked. The AC was fine and did not need charging. We replaced the alternator as it worked but also had a little bearing noise. The undercarriage was pressure washed. cleaned and sealed with rust converter. primer and Beige Mopar engine paint (very hard paint). I basically treated this Scrambler as if I were going to keep it for myself for a long time. I actually would like to however I buy them to sell not to keep. All of the lights. the horn. turn signals. stereo. speedometer and gauges all work except… you guessed it the infamous fuel gauge does not work. The interior is very nice and the previous owner actually had it re-upholstered a few years ago. The paint and body as mentioned above is original including the stickers. There is some rust but not much. There is a little around the rear fender well just above the fender flare and another spot on that same rear quarter. I will show this in the pictures. There are also a couple of small dents on the hood with the paint knocked off. The floors are solid with the exception of a small area about the size of a half dollar under the rocker on the driver side I believe. It was treated and sealed and should be fine from now on as it is. The tires are in good shape and I don’t know of anything else to do to make it any better short of stripping down for a full restoration which I wouldn’t do. They are only original once and it has nice patina yet still solid and dependable enough to head out across the country. I love this Jeep and its most definitely in one of my personal favorites category. I believe the new owners will be very well pleased and they will get many years of enjoyment from this time capsule.
