Very rare original paint 1977 Jeep CJ5 "Levis Edition" custom special ordered "Golden Eagle". Only 3 owners since new. Original owner wanted a "Golden Eagle" model but without the big eagle on the hood, so he custom ordered this Jeep the way he wanted it. Hood stripes and small eagle graphics on the front fenders are original from the AMC factory. Factory options include: tachometer, clock, tilt steering column, sport steering wheel, power steering, front disk brakes, padded dash, and fender extensions. Vin tag has "99" Special Order custom color paint code and "6CG" tan Levis bucket seat code. Originally this had a 304 V8 engine with 3 speed manual transmission and 15"x8" white spoke "Styled" wheels.Sold new at "Don Shreve" in Rochester, NY then quickly made it's way to Phoenix, AZ. Second owner purchased in 1981 and I purchased it from him a couple of years ago (Please see original photos of this Jeep in 1981 - 1982). It spent most of it's existence in Phoenix, AZ and Las Vegas, NV. Second owner installed a rebuilt 1974 Chevy 350 V8 (2 bolt main) and Turbo 350 automatic transmission in 1992. "Advance Adapters" transmission / transfer case adapters and motor mount kits were used for a very clean conversion. Drive Line Service made the custom front driveshaft. Engine was rebuilt stock with the exception of a "Cam Dynamics" Energizer cam (part # 1000042) which makes for good low end torque. Core engine and transmission came from a low milage 1974 Chevy Malibu station wagon (note 1974 Chevy "350" emblems from that same car). Engine block is Standard bore with a Standard size crankshaft. Block was honed and crankshaft was polished by Garst Engine Service in Glendale, AZ. Pistons received new rings and new main, rod, and cam bearings were installed at time of rebuild. Cylinder heads were treated to a valve job as well. Engine has the stock Chevy HEI distributer and 2 barrel intake manifold / carburetor (even the stock air cleaner). When this conversion was done in 1992, emissions were in mind and a custom single exhaust system with small catalytic converter were installed. Exhaust sounds nice and this set up has always passed the smog tests. Turbo 350 transmission was also rebuilt at the same time and had a shift kit installed. Shifts are nice and tight and the B&M Megashifter works well. There are only about 18,000 miles on the engine / trans since they were rebuilt and there is a stack of receipts proving all work that had been done. It runs and drives good and there are no oil leaks. Transfer case and 4WD works as it should too. All of the stock under hood Chevy Air Conditioning system was also installed at the time of the engine installation and it's connected to an aftermarket under dash A/C unit. I have never used the A/C but it should work with a freon charge (This Jeep usually had a full soft top on it). Custom "Appliance" 15"x9" aluminum "Centerline" style wheels were installed in 1981 and there is even a matching spare. Tires are Good Year Wrangler Authority 31x10.5x15 and have lots of tread left.Seats were just recovered with marine grade black vinyl in a custom diamond stitch pattern and look amazing. Front seats are real 1986 Jeep "CJ" highbacks and rear seat is the original non-folding unit. Original seat belts and sun visors are present as well. Note Motorola "700SX" cassette player from 1981 too. Front floor boards have some rust and drivers side floor board has a bolted in patch panel. There is also a rusted out area behind the rear license plate (see photos). Nothing has been hidden with Bondo or diamond plate "body armor" like most Jeeps of this era. Even the frame has original paint! Custom rear bumper is a heavy duty, very well made unit with a built in trailer hitch and was installed in the early 1980's. "Olympic Auto Accessories" chrome front bumper and all other chrome accessories were also installed in the early 1980's.A new gas tank and sending unit were installed about two years ago. Front and rear spring shackles are new as well. All lights and gauges work as they should. Body vin tag and stamped frame serial numbers match as they should and I have a clear Nevada title in my name. This Jeep has tons of character and gets looks / comments everywhere I drive it. It's very fun and easy to drive too. Engine runs very strong and it cruises 55 - 65 MPH on the highway with no issues. Ready for summer fun! ***Keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle. It is 43 years old and will require regular maintenance and repairs. It is sold as-is where-is with no warranty of any kind. Please ask all questions before bidding***
