Description of 1979 Jeep CJ

Very Nice Original 1979 Jeep CJ5 Loaded W/ Options
Here we have for sale a nice original 1979 Jeep CJ5 loaded with factory and dealer options. I acquired this Jeep from the original owners family. The Jeep was purchased brand new from the Jeep dealer here where I live in Reno, Nevada. So this Jeep has always been in the dry, Nevada desert since new. It has 44k original miles and runs and drives great. What’s really neat about the Jeep is the amount of factory and dealer options that it has on it. The black paint is 100% original and in good shape. I just recently had the Jeep polished and wax and it really made the original black paint pop. There is some weathering on the paint but it has a great survivor, original look to it. The factory option Meyers hard top is super rare to find on a CJ5 of this era. The door have roll up and down glass windows in it that work very well and keep the air out of the cab. The top has a little original Jeep Special Equipment decal on the back corner and in the interior. The top is original paint and has a cool weather look to it. The whole Jeep has a cohesive look to it because it’s never been messed with. The Jeep as has a special order swing-away spare tire carrier on it. It too has the original Jeep Special Equipment decal still intact on it too. The spare tire still has a really cool era correct NOS Dunlop tire on it. The Jeep is also equipped with a factory Warn winch. It still has in place too the factory Jeep Special Equipment made by Warn decal on the winch. The winch is in good working order too with the factory controller still in the original accessory tool bar bags in the interior of the Jeep. The wheels are original and measure 15x8” with factory accessory Jeep wheel covers. You never see Jeeps with factory wheel covers on them. I think these look great on this Jeep. The bumpers are straight and are original with original paint on them. The glass on the Jeep appear to be all original and in great shape. The front windshield doesn’t have any chips or cracks in it. I replaced the old factory fender flares with new reproduction ones. The lenses have all been replaced on the turn signals and tail lights. All of the electrical works has been tested and works in the Jeep. The interior of the Jeep is very clean. I replaced the factory seats with new replacements. They have new frames, upholstery, and seat foam. They are nice and comfortable to sit in. They still have all of their factory mounting frame to them too. I still have the complete set of factory seats if the new owner would like them. The carpet appears to be the original charcoal carpet that came in the Jeep from the factory. It’s in pretty good shape for its age too. I took it all out of the Jeep and shampooed and put it back in place. The dash in all original and not hacked up. The gauges are all in good working order and same with all of the dash knobs. There was a old 8 track radio in the dash that didn’t work so I removed it and installed a radio delete place in its place. The steering wheel is in great shape. The Jeep also has a factory option roll bar installed too. There are also a set of factory option roll bar storage bags. There is some minor rust in the passenger side floor. I have posted a picture of the underneath of the Jeep to show. And a little bit on the passenger side rocker panel. The engine and drivetrain are all original and in good working condition. The engine is an optional 304ci V8 with tons of power that is mated to a factory three speed transmission. This Jeep has a 3.54 gear ratio so it can cruise with todays traffic speed easily. The engine runs and idles smoothly. It’s starts right up. I rebuilt the original carburetor and replaced the engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and air filter. The air filter assembly is all original and complete too. The entire emissions system in the engine compartment seems to been complete. I don’t currently have the air pump belt on but you can run one if you desire. The exhaust is not factory but sounds really good. The Jeep has also factory power steering and factory power disc brakes. The Jeep is an absolute blast to drive and with all the modern conveniences of power steering, power brakes, v8 and highway gearing. The Jeep must have had a recent brake job because the front pads look almost new. The transmission and transfer case was rebuilt by the original owner. The transmission and clutch all function properly and work great. I have all of the factory manuals and keys that go with the Jeep. I have a bunch or old registrations in the glovebox. The Jeep is currently titled and registered. I have a clean and clear Nevada title in my name for the Jeep. The Jeep isn’t perfect and shows some wear and weather but it’s super unique to find one this clean with all of the factory and dealer options on it. It was very well taken care of and has not been abused. It’s ready to jump in a go enjoy. It’s an absolute blast to drive and I think the next owner will think so too.
