Description of 1983 Jeep CJ |
Rare opportunity to buy a piece of history. only 5 years of Scrambler production! With a scrambler you have an extra 24 inches in length which gives you a small truck bed! This 1983 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler has; fiberglass body / tub (all but hood. tailgate and windshield frame). rust free frame. zero through rust. 4" rough country suspension lift. 1" body lift. 35" diamond plate rockers. nbsp;Mickey Thompson BAJA MTZ's with good tread. Chevy 350 w new Edelbrock 4 bbl and new EFI distributor. Newly rebuilt by Novak T18 Trans 4 speed non synchronized 1st crawler gear. new clutch last summer. nbsp;dana 20 transfer case recently inspected and resealed. new front drive shaft. new CV rear shaft. Boomerang shackles front and rear to prevent leaf spring inversion. widetrack dana 30 front axle with new mechanical locker. widetrack dana 44 rear axle with detroit locker. yes this is a true dana 44 widetrack produced for 6 months only in 1986 when Chrysler ran out of AMC20 rear ends. both front and rear are true widetracks. not shortened! both have 4:10 gears. Custom DOM rock rails welded to frame. nbsp;Warn front and Warn rear bumpers with shackles. nbsp;Cherry bomb exhaust. JK quick release stabilizer disconnects. nbsp;new Warn 8000# winch. New Bestop seats (Trailmax II front and Fold and Tumble rear (not mounted)). Kenwood radio (installed. but not wired to speakers at this time. Mechanical fan converted to new Flexo-Lite electric fan with adjustable thermostat. tach on column. Has front leaf spring shackle reversal. aluminum valve covers. Few opportunities to buy a scrambler. especially one with this great frame and the fiberglass body is worth thousandssssss alone - no rust body future!!!! Mileage shown is exceeded mechanical limits and is shown as such on title. This was a previous frame off resto-mod. Engine runs strong always starts. previous owner had built with; roller rockers. aluminum intake. double hump heads. racing pan with nearly 8 quart capacity. nbsp;other mods. No leaks. Jeeps tracks down road very straight with very. very little correction necessary at any speed. Extras: I have an older half soft top and soft doors that are great for off road use. The zippers on the top need attention and one of the upper half doors has a slightly bent frame. The original bulk head that installs behind the front seats is included. Originally I installed 4:56 final drive gears front and rear. This was a little to tall for around town driving. so I replaced them with 4:10 gears. The barely used 4:56 gears go with the jeep. Runs. drives everywhere (i mean absolutely anywhere). very dependable. driven often. nbsp;great fun and ohhhh what looks you will get. Why selling? Ready for next project. only reason. period. It's really a great jeep. I hate to see it go. Feel free to ask any questions or for specific |
