Description of 1965 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
I am selling my 1965 VW beetle. The motor runs very strong. It does leak oil from the pushrod tubes and drips on J pipes which create a burning oil smell. I have not had time to repair but this is an easy fix. It has a sunroof which needs a new seal. as when it rains but very seldom it will leak. The windows are the California kit. has a performance exhaust. It will cruise down the road at 60 and 65 mph with no problem. I have taken it up to 70 but noticed it would foul a plug occasionally. I have placed an electronic ignition in it. so no need to adjust points. Carburetor has been rebuilt with choke working. Oil has been changed often. Interior needs work but not in horrible shape. cloth is fading and needs a new carpet with insulation underneath. Does have some rust around battery area. common with all bugs. I have not had any time to do any kind of floor pan repair. but very minor. It has been taken care of. and only real body issues were on the very front by the trunk handle. My aunt sold me this car about 4 years ago as I would work on it for her. it was her daily driver. She let her granddaughter use it for a school car and she ran into someone and dented the front. I knocked the dent out but the paint came off of the trunk and has some rust on it. but a good sanding and a little body work and it would be very straight. I was driving this vehicle back and forth to work for about 2 years then purchased a new car with AC and Heat. so I parked this. I do not need it as it is just sitting other than me starting it and driving it down the road once or twice a month to make sure motor stays lubricated and battery charged. I installed an older Alpine CD player in it with Kicker speakers with speaker panels in front and some generic 6x9 speakers in back with a homemade wood speaker tray. It sounds good and worked for just driving to work listening to radio or cd. Has a new wiring fuse assembly placed in it with updated fuses. only issues I noticed is when it is raining or a lot of moisture outside the turn signals do not work properly. think it is a bad ground affected by the moisture. Wheels need to be balanced as at certain speeds the steering wheel vibrates. but I never had it balanced and tires are over 10 years old. The windows role up on driver and passenger doors but need assistance and probably some lubricating. This bug will be a very good car for a teenager. or someone who wants a bug to customize and wants a good solid foundation. It does need a little TLC. but runs good and would make a good daily driver without much work needed. It has a patina faded paint and would only need some minor work to blend it all in if that look was desired as well. I have four other bugs and decided this one will not be my project. I do not have to sell it so please no low ballers. Make me an honest offer at least in the range of what it is worth and we can work something out. |
