You are bidding on a 1985 Lotus Turbo Esprit with 19. 65 original miles on the clock. I am the second owner and purchased the car from the local Lotus dealer in 1987. The car has always been garaged and covered. never seen bad weather. never been hit in any manner. driven sparingly and recently taken out of long term storage. I have gone through the car replacing all belts. including the timing belt. plugs. engine oil. coolant. transmission oil. oil filter. fuel filters. exhaust manifold gaskets and a new battery. I rebuilt the carbs. replaced fuel lines and flushed the fuel system. The paint and fiberglass is in excellent original condition and the interior is in very good condition. The car is original with the following modifications I made over the years. Replaced clutch and clutch "red line" with stainless steel line to eliminate infamous spongy clutch. Powder painted and polished theoriginal BBS wheels. They were gold and rough natural aluminum finish from the factory. Powder painted and polished the intake plenum and cam covers. They were originally a crinkle black finish. Replaced all "surgical tubing" fuel vapor lines with modern fuel line to eliminate infamous fuel smell in the cabin. Replaced the original stereo and speakers with a sony unit and polk speakers. The original Blaupunkt is included with the purchase and was working fine when I replaced it. Known issues with the car include: The windshield washer bottle is cracked and will not hold washer fluid. The pump works just fine as far as I know. The AC is the original R-12 unit and currently is not charged. It worked fine the last time I used it which was at least 10 yrs ago. perhaps longer. However working fine is a relative term. even when new. the AC was fairly worthless. it was very good at keeping your knees cold and not much else. The sale also includes spare interior parts. a new instrument binnacle and a new center console unit. These are original OEM parts from Lotus I purchased a very long time ago from a dealer that was shutting down and having a fire sale. I also have a set of new lambswool seat covers if you want them. I never used them and in fact never really wanted them but they are custom made for this car and a guy at a swap meet one day 20yrs ago kept pestering me so I jokingly offered him $10 for supposedly a $300 set of seat covers to get him to leave me alone and he said ok. This is the last of the carbureted cars. The G-body car as its come to be know was redesigned in 1988. There were 262 examples of this model year built worldwide. not sure how many of those ended up in the US. The Turbo Esprit was produced from 1980 thru 1987 with 2274 total examples produced during that period. The Esprit design first appeared in 1976 as the S1 model. infamous as the James Bond car in The Spy Who Loved Me. Disclaimer: Mine does not have the underwater option or the missile launcher option. I think NHTSA would not allow those into the US. If you have any questions or need any more info. let me know. If you wish to inspect the car in person. I will be available with reasonable notice. Good luck.
