Bonjourno! MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this unique and almost never seen 1965 Lancia Fulvia Rallye Coupé 1.3. This is the true classic Italian collector’s find! Finished in a beautiful red, the paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection.

Nineteen sixty-five was the debut year for this beautiful Series I Lancia Coupé features a 1.2L V-4 (no, that is NOT a typo; this car really has a V-4 motor) cylinder engine making 80 horsepower mated to a four-speed manual transmission, with four-wheel disc brakes, wood dash and period correct wooden steering wheel. With its low beltline, generous greenhouse and wide front seats, the Lancia Fulvia will delight even the most discerning Italian car collector or enthusiast.

Finished in a beautiful red, the paint job shows well overall with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. The windshield and other vehicle glass sections are clear, intact and in overall good shape. All exterior lights are present, intact and clear except for minor haze on the driver’s side taillight. The windshield washer nozzles are missing from the hood but the bumpers are in good shape, as are the rest of the metal trim pieces. The engine bay is clean and the battery was replaced here in St. Louis on December 31, 2014. The trunk is has more cargo volume than one might expect, thanks to the car’s front-drive layout. Cargo area is in good shape and has some spare parts. Car rolls on Firestone 155R14 tires with factory steel wheels and hubcaps.

Inside, the cream leather seats all look good with no major signs of wear visible. The black carpet is intact, interior and exterior mirrors are each in one piece and the door panels and dashboard are in good shape. The headliner stitching has a small tear and the horn is inoperable but the shift lever and wood-rimmed steering wheel are both in good shape.

In July 2011, the car had some suspension parts replaced and a front alignment done. The month before, previous owner William Hall of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, had four Firestone F560 tires, size 155R14, installed. In November 2010, the car had the following work performed – a new exhaust system, a new brake system, brake system flush, a new seal kit for the master cylinder, new emergency brake, new gas tank, fuel filter and fuel pump, new spark plugs and new transmission fluid. In September of 2010, he had the fuel pump replaced. I November of 2009, he had brake work completed and a new dual-circuit master cylinder put in.

The Lancia Fulvia (Tipo 818) was an Italian car introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 by Lancia and produced until 1976. Fulvias are notable for their role in motorsport history, including winning the International Rally Championship in 1972. After testing it in 1967, Road & Track summed up the Fulvia as “a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force.” It is named after Via Fulvia, the Roman road leading from Tortona to Torino.

The Fulvia was available in three variants: Berlina four-door saloon, two-door Coupé, and Sport, an alternative fastback coupé designed and built by Zagato on the Coupé floorpan. When leaving the factory all but a few of the Coupés originally fitted Pirelli Cinturato 165HR14 tires. The Coupés were the last Fulvia model to be discontinued, ceasing production in 1977.

The Fulvia Berlina was designed to replace the Lancia Appia, with which it shared almost no components. The Appia used rear-wheel drive, while the Fulvia moved to front-wheel drive like the Flavia. The general engineering design of the Fulvia was identical to that of the Flavia with the major exception of the engine; the Flavia had a four-cylinder horizontally opposed engine while the Fulvia had a ‘narrow angle’ vee configuration as featured on most production Lancias since the Lambda. The Fulvia used a longitudinal engine mounted in front of its transaxle. An independent suspension in front used wishbones and a single leaf spring, while a beam axle with a panhard rod and leaf springs was used in back. Four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes were fitted to first series Fulvias.

One new element was the narrow-angle V-4 engine. Designed by Zaccone Mina, it used a narrow angle (12°53’28”) and was mounted well forward at a 45° angle. The engine is a DOHC design with a one camshaft operating all intake valves and another operating all exhaust valves. The very narrow angle of the cylinders allowed for use of a single cylinder head. Displacement began at just 1091 cc making 58 horsepower with a 72 mm bore and 67 mm stroke. A higher (9.0:1) compression ratio and fitting twin Solex carburetors raised power to 71 horsepower soon after. Equipped with a 1,216 cc 818.100 engine, it produced 80 horsepower at 6,000 rpm.

Included with the car are maintenance receipts, technical schematics and other random documents about the car.

With low production numbers, these Lancias are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid, well-kept condition. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
