Description of 1958 Lancia Appia Pininfarina Coupe 2 Seat |
"Rare" and "Barn Find" are words so overused in these listings that it has become a joke, but here is an authentically RARE car and a TRUE barn find. As proof, just look at the dirt accumulated by 40 years of storage and the hay rack in the background. Only 302 of the Series 2 Pininfarina Coupes were produced. This car is one of them. Produced between 1957 to 1960, total production of all Series 2, and Series 3 coupes was only around 1,087 cars. Pininfarina built 302 of them and 785 were produced by Viotti. How many survive today?? Especially in this condition. And with many sold in Europe, how many are left in the United states? For 1958, Lancia supplied chassis and engines to the Pininfarina company who designed and built the bodies on top of the Lancia frame. The pictures tell the story, but it is a low mile, rust-free car with straight sheet metal all around. It has been stored in a barn with cement floors. The unique V4 engine appears to be stuck but we didn't try too hard to get it to turn. The engine is common to other Appia vehicles and parts can easily be sourced. See current ebay listing #92135977695, (#http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Lancia-Appia-V4-1090-CC-Complete-Engine-Block-Head-Intake-Exhaust-NICE-RARE-/292135977695?hash=item4404a942df:g:lXMAAOSwq1JZLwPX&vxp=mtr) Interior is rough but there is enough there to make a pattern. Someone cut into the transmission tunnel to access something but it's not a difficult fix. We are hoping to find the piece. We have not been able to locate a key. Radiator and air cleaner are in the trunk but we have not located the carburetor. We do have the title. This unique, rare, and great looking car is mostly all there and it deserves to be put back on the road. I am listing this car for a friend and will answer questions as best I can but none of us are knowledgeable about Lancia cars so please do your own research. Be sure to look at what restored versions of this car are being sold for. Storage is being lost and the car MUST be picked up ASAP. You must arrange shipping, we will help load the car. |
