Description of 1988 Land Rover Range Rover 2-Door Classic turbo diesel all manual Coupe |
Please read entire ad before bidding. By bidding, you agree to terms in ad, specifically, $1000 due at end of auction by paypal, and balance of purchase price within 5 days, no exceptions, unless you have spoken to me live regarding other arrangements. Balance of payment to be made by any other certified payment method (wire transfer, cash in person, check to clear before truck leaves here, bank deposit) Title has been paid for by me, and is en route from the State of Georgia DMV, and will be mailed along to buyer. I do have new 'temporary' title now issued by DMV. - This Range Rover is for sale locally too - I reserve the right to end this auction at any time if I receive a reasonable offer and deposit. If you want to purchase this truck you will need to call me at 912-414-8993 to discuss. If you do not call, but bid and win, remember you are BIDDING TO BUY, not to come and inspect after the auction. This Range Rover is here with me now at my house in Rincon, GA just a few miles outside of Savannah - zip code 31326 I reserve the right to end this auction at any time, and sell to any interested and able buyer - even if I have bids on this auction. I can end this auction and cancel bids, so if you want to buy this truck, be sure to call me and not just wait to see what happens at the end of the auction, my auctions usually end long before their scheduled ending time. I have for sale here a 1988 Range Rover 2-door that came out of Spain, so has very little rust. I bought this Classic with the intention of making it my 'keeper' for a year or two, but I just found a very cool FMC (diesel!) motorhome I am buying instead to use this summer, and have to sell a few of my personal vehicles to make this happen. I did not have time to become attached to this Range Rover yet, so I am sacrificing it to give myself some more financial slack this Summer. I am driving cross-country to Oregon in mid-August and will be gone for two weeks, and am therefore motivated to make this sale before I leave. I will be willing to lower price more than I intentionally wanted to if a sale is made before August 12, otherwise, if it waits to sell when I return, I will be looking for more $$ at that time. This truck has the VM turbo diesel engine, plenty of power, (Feels faster than the 200Tdi or 300Tdi ... more 'car like' as it revs higher. This engine is used as original equipment in many vehicles in Europe including the Alfa Romeo 164, Rover SD1, Range Rovers, Toyota Landcruiser diesels, and much more) mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and LT230 transfer case with center locking differential. Truck starts, runs and drives great! I get a lot of requests for these 2-Door Range Rovers, here is your opportunity to buy one from a trusted source. I have personally seen and sold many of these two doors, and most are very rusty ; rusty doors, rusty frames, etc - This one was sold to me as 'absolutely rust free' , but after inspecting it (rather critically, I did find some rust in the trunk floor, in the panel around the fuel filler neck. The good news is this panel is available online for about $90 ! Frame is perfect, doors are perfect, and I have found no other rust, anyplace else. I think water got in here at some point in this one area and was left to stand. I have taken a close-up photo of this area, please inspect photos --- This truck is extra special for being an 'all manual options' truck - it has wind-up windows, manual seats, about the only luxury here (other than the vintage/ classic look of the truck) is Air Conditioning. Which is nice. 2-Door Range Rover Classics are probably the most interesting and unusual of the Land Rovers, but Defender 90 and 110s get all the attention. This truck is nimble with its short wheelbase, gets great fuel economy (25-30 MPG a reality, it is super-reliable (and yes, you can get parts for this engine easily online - everything is available) and great off road. I also believe these trucks will become the most collectible of the early Land Rovers very soon, they are already selling for crazy money in Europe when restored. This truck benefits also from living in a dry climate its entire life, so you will not find any of the rust that usually plagues them. Has cloth 'Vogue' interior. Dash is nice, has carpet side curtains still in the rear luggage compartment. It is being sold on the non - OEM aluminum rims pictured here, but would look great with a set of Rostyles (Which I may have available for the buyer - contact me) and vertical steel grille. BAD STUFF WITH THIS ROVER : Really the only bad thing about this truck is it could be considered a 'cosmetic project' if you are looking for a perfect truck. It's body and paint can be considered 'shabby' - Paint color is original, but several panels have been repainted in an amateur-ish way and do not quite match perfectly. Body itself has many dings, waves in panels, small dents on roof, while body is rust-free, it is not 'perfectly straight' - I see no bondo or filler anywhere, but do not expect perfectly straight panels. Interior door panel, while in good condition, are held on with non-original screws. Seat cloth does not match carpet color (But for this year, I do think these are original seats - And are definitely the unique-to-2-door seats, which flip and slide forward to gain access to rear seats). No radio present. This is a truck you can drive every day now and enjoy as-is, and it looks very good in my opinion - but - if you are wanting a 'perfect, not nice' truc, this will require paint, a new headliner (saggy in places, new tires, that sort of thing. Yes, at this time, the tires on the truck are tired and should be replaced too. I try very hard to be honest with my descriptions - please check my feedback - and I try to concentrate more on what is wrong with my vehicles for sale than what is good about them. I do not try to take unrealistic/ too flattering photos, and try to picture anything I think is wrong. All that being said, if you can come and look at this truck in person BEFORE BIDDING, please do. If you can not come firs, do not bid unless you are 100% committed to following through. You are not bidding to come and inspect this truck later. If you would like to send a mobile inspector for yourself, please do! In short, if you have been looking for a reasonably priced 2-door early Range Rover that you can drive every day, and you do not like rust - Here is a great truck for you. CALL ME at 912-414-8993 with any questions, and visit zombiemotors.net for more information and photos of this truck, and be sure to check my other auctions for more cool trucks, Land Rover Tdi diesel engine conversion kits (prefer a different engine in this Rangie for some reason..? I can do this for you) Thank you for reading all of this. If you win the auctio, $1000 is due immediately by paypal. I will be gone from about August 14th - 26t, and would prefer to sell before I leave, but may be able to arrange delivery for you during that time, and can help with arranging transportation for you regardless. Please check my feedback and see I sell a lot of vehicles and expensive engine kits with positive feedback. IF you prefer 4 doors, please check my other auctions for my Discovery 1 Turbo Diesel Tdi conversio, and if you are looking for something a little different, also check out my VW Transporter, I have both a single-cab and a Doka for sale in my other auctions as well.
