Description of 1974 Land Rover Other 88" |
Land Rover Series III, west coast truck since new, brought to Maryland this spring. Plan was to use for overlanding/camping, ended up with a Land Cruiser instead. Engine was changed to a GM iron duke 2.5 sometime in the early 80's, running a 1979 engine with HEI and Weber carb.Swap was done using a Scotty's adapter, this was a popular swap, parts uses cheap and easy to find GM parts and stock Rover transmission The Good:Rust free except where picturedEquipped with Fairey overdrivePlenty of power for a Series rover, engine runs well and sounds great, can maintain highway speeds5 new 31 x 10.50 15 Michelin LTX AT tires6 15x8 wheels which are extremely heavy dutyDecent stereo- can hear it over the road noiseSound deadening throughoutBunch of spare parts- axles, gaskets, etc The Bad:Right front fender was cut for access to clutch and brake master cylinders, could easily be covered with a step platePops out of first gear on deceleration, you can hold it inSmall rust areas as pictured. Bulkhead is solid, only surface rust Overall truck is a great driver, I drove it daily for most of the summer. Tons of fun and lots of attention Ive posted videos on youtube, simply search "thom thurlow", click the first result theres about 6 videos of the truck posted on my channel. Thanks!
