Description of 1977 Land Rover Defender |
1977 Land Rover Series III 88'' Diesel 2.25 Full Providence back to March 1977 Extremely rare, Show quality Left Hand Drive
Overview of the restoration! Step One - Striped down the body took the engine out until we had just a bear chassis. The chassis was sand blasted and brought back to clean metal. The only damage we uncovered was the rear cross member it was replaced with a new one. The chassis was then etch primed and painted in black ready for reassembly.
Step Two - The engine was cleaned stripped painted and serviced. Replacing rocker and sump gaskets. The engine is in very good condition without smoke or leaking fluids.
Step Three - All the body panels where stripped and hand prepped, painted and reassembled. All the panels are the original Aluminum ones and in very good condition. You will see that the panels still have some small dents in them. We wanted to keep it 100% original with 0 body filler. This also gives it character and you will know as a Land Rover enthusiast that is important! The doors where fully rebuild with new seals glass locks and runners as they where perished. Step Four - Now that the body was back together and it was starting to take shape it was time to get the wiring done. We fully rewired the full lighting circuit with new wire and new original style Wipack lights. Blinkers, Headlights, Tail lights. Step Five - The brakes where fully rebuilt to inc new master cylinder, slave cylinder, drums, shoes, and copper lines. Basically a brand new system. Step Six - 5 x New Michelin cross ply tires where installed. Step Seven - The cab was reassembled with all new interior to inc 3 new front seats and 2 new rear bench seats. The dash was fully stripped, cleaned and reupholstered the dash top. We tried to save what we could with a special restoration gel as the parts are obsolete and are extremely rare in LHD and it turned out great!
Ok so I have certainly not been able to describe everything that has been done during the 12 month restoration process however I hope the pictures can tell some of the story of the hard labor that was put into her. We certainly enjoyed the process and tried our best to make sure that this little truck was the best one around and capable of being show winner! All the nuts and bolts used to reassemble are marine grade.
Location - The truck is located in Savage Maryland about 15minutes from BWI airport. I would be happy to pick you up from the airport for a viewing if you live out of state.
Title - The Land Rover Comes with a full clear and clean Maryland title. Please also note it can be put on Historic Tags if required and is exempt form state inspection. Out of State Transportation - I am happy to work with any folks that live out of state for transportation. We have some companies that we have used in the past that we can recommend if necessary.
