Description of 1983 Land Rover Defender |
| The Nantucket. We created this vehicle for the Land Rover connoisseur who wants a truck that looks like Land rover created it. but with a completely unique look to it. Given that Land Rover never made a 110 soft top you will be the envy of your friends. It started life as a 1983 Land Rover defender 110 pickup. Vin number salldhav1aa189829. The vehicle was carefully taken apart and taken all the way down to the frame and then treated to a full frame sandblast followed up with new powder coating to maintain its originality yet add decades to the life of the truck. The body was then stripped and painted as separate pieces. and then carefully re assembled on the chassis. We used new front doors and a new hood in the body refurbishment. The inside and underneath of the body was sprayed with a bed lining for protection and durability. The outside was painted with high grade PPG in a Land Rover factory correct Arles Blue paint. This is one of the most sought after defender colors. We added a new completer roll cage along with an all new canvas top. The top can be removed in 5 minutes or sides just rolled up. We added a NAS style rear bumper with a 2” receiver for towing purposes. The complete drive train came out of a US spec 1997 Land rover discovery. The engine is a complete rebuild. with new bearings. and full gasket kit. For the engine we put on new ancillaries. along with a new radiator to keep this motor running nice and cool. We upgraded the wiring and upgraded the engine ECU. The axles are full disc front and back with the front being slotted and vented rotors; we used the stronger 24 spline axles and newer differentials for the rebuild. We installed all new bearings and seals in the front and rear axles. The seals on the transmission and transfer case were replaced. We added all new BFG AT size 285 75 16 to the Land rover boost alloys. We installed all new shocks. springs. and bushings all the way around. Inside we added all new Exmoor seats in the front and in the back we installed two folding benches with seat belts for 4 people. Behind that there is room for beach chairs. coolers and the family dog so the whole family can enjoy the Rover. We added a full high end car stereo. The Kenwood stereo has factory navigation with back up camera. Bluetooth. hands free. set up for. iPod. Pandora. and xm/Sirius. We installed 4 Polk Marine grade speakers along with a 10”subwoofer in the custom locking center console. made of marine grade starboard and assembled with stainless screws. We installed all new gauges along with a GPS based speedometer. Restoration was completed November 2014. I have lots of pics of the restoration process available upon request.
