Description of 1986 Land Rover Defender |
VIN #SALLDVAD8AA280723 (for some reason eBay hates these older vehicles.) I am selling a beautiful, rebuilt '86 Defender. I purchased the vehicle about 4 years ago from an owner that had imported and done some work on it. Not satisfied with the work done previously I had just about every inch of this truck inspected, rebuilt, repaired or replaced. All work was done at North Texas British. (one of the owners is a good friend and will share any details needed about the vehicle and the work performed.) In addition I have the records from my rebuild. At multiple meet ups, I have been told its one of the cleanest interiors of the older defenders and I had the exterior sprayed with the Kevlar infused liner material that is used on the now famous Starwood Jeeps. Since the tear down and work we performed on the vehicle I would guess its been driven about 1000 miles. The original odometer reads 249,000 kilometers (approx. 150k miles) but again most everything was maintenance and/or touched about 1000 miles ago. Upon request I will gladly share the receipts which totaled just shy of $20k in costs. Mechanical:1. Former owner put a Discovery 4.0L 8 cylinder in with a Edel Carb. NTBritish rebuilt this engine as well as corrected motor mounts from previous owner.2. Just about any piece of the engine was also replaced or re-built during the re-build - alternators, brake cylinders, belts, pulleys, etc.3. Axels were torn down and repaired replaced along with suspension replacement. Tires have 90 percent of their life on them.4. NTBritish helped with the bird nest of wiring, simplifying most of the wiring running around the truck.5. Things like new Fan, rebuilt Alternator, batteries, etc. are too long to list so again will supply upon request. Electrical:1. Replaced all lighting with LED,2. As seen in pictures off road LED bars were added as well.3. Dual Battery System in place - Blue Top Optima with T-Rex Isolator that will combine when needed to start vehicle.4. I pigtailed a jumper cable quick release from the batteries to the rear wheel arch so access to batteries does not require pull drivers seat.5. Previous owner installed the Defender aftermarket Air Conditioner. This has been serviced and surprisingly blows cold air even in the TX heat.6. "Custom" stereo installed...if you are looking you know these vehicles are loud, so I had 6x9 boxes built into the back corners, added new under dash speakers and a Kenwood AMP...to be fair its not going to win a stereo show anytime soon, but can hear it well when driving on highway. Exterior:1. As noted above, the car was custom coated with the Kevlar infused liner that was made mainstream by Starwood Motors. (former partner of SWM opened a shop and did the work)2. Its a two tone liner with a matte grey and a Black with some reflectivity3. All lighting converted to LED4. Roof light bar added with two LED bars5. Bull Bar added LED light bar6. Step bars and rims powder coated black to match.7. Windows Tinted8. NOTE - the logos on side windows and rear window are clings and peel away in seconds. (its a TV test pattern) Interior:1. Double layered insulation on floors, consoles, etc.2. All leather seats added from a modern Defender rebuilt. Seats are in great shape. Two tone leather as seen in the photos.3. Leather cubby box in middle is upgraded as well. (has switches for fog lights and seat heaters) along with cup holders.4. Rear has the fold up seats, these are leather buckets as well in brand new condition.5. Carpet throughout6. From dash to headliner to panels, all materials are clean and in great shape. (will gladly take more pics) Other Notes:I have a few extra light bars, a shorter bull bar and some other odds and ends for the truck that the new owner is welcome to have. Obviously its an older truck, but we did a bunch of work on it and love it as much as our 2014 RRS. (albeit its a little slower and a touch louder...lol)The vehicle is in Dallas, TX and we hold the title in hand so the transaction can be easy if this is the truck you have been looking for. Its not one of the 100k imports coming in with Corvette engines, but this is one of the nicest, cleanest older Defenders when I take it to meet ups and shows. Feel free to ask as many questions as needed and I can connect you with the garage that did the work for additional mechanical questions. |
