Description of 1987 Land Rover Defender 110

1987 Land Rover 110. It has a 300TDi, turbo diesel engine (the best one you can get before the unreliable electronic motors came out.) it has been professionally converted to a left hand drive with a professionally installed Ashcroft ZF 4hp22 automatic transmission! The paint is Nara Bronze (Range Rover color) and was done in 2013. It has front leather seats out of a Mini Cooper, rear leather seats are from Exmoor (all real leather). Center console is from Ashcroft and the automatic shifter is from a discovery, as is the 300tdi. It has a allisport intake pipe, dry filter with OEM airbox. EGR is blocked. Boostpin installed. Ceramic window tint ($1,100), frame is coated, terrafirma HD springs and struts, interior was coated with line-x and layered with dynamite. 75k on the motor, 135k miles on the chassis. Vin plate still attached and matching vin stamped on frame. All glass has original British number plate etched in. I still have the plates as well. I have fairly extensive records to include various MOT inspections from the UK. It's not a complete service history but still quite a lot of documents. I also retained receipts from my ownership, to include the $16k I spent on the LHD and automatic transmission conversion.
This is my project vehicle and have been diligently repairing, replacing, and improving. It is my daily driver, so expect miles to increase slightly. Just serviced this week. Brand new mud terrain tires. Brand new mid seats, new touchscreen radio w/ gps and backup camera new steering wheel (still have stock) too many parts to list. Tires have less than 500 miles on them. Transmission has about 2k flawless miles under its belt.
It is still a work in progress, but fully capable of being driven anywhere today without concern. Items still left to fix that I am aware:Finish carpet in rear. (I have the carpet, just needs installed)Rear wiper does not work/is not installed. (I purchased a replacement motor, just haven't reinstalled)Front side marker lights are not hooked upRear window squirter does not workDomelight not hooked up. Switch needs replaced. (~$15)Rear seats are currently removed for carpet install. They are original brown cloth. I do not have matching leather yet.Paint is bubbling in some places on the doors and a couple crack paint areas on the bulkhead where the previous owner let the doors swing too much. Overall paint 6/10...8 out of 10 for Defender standards. All other gauges, lights, features, etc., work.
I have all the original brown cloth seating. Should the buyer want it. Vehicle was imported into Florida, the original US owner titled/registered it in NC, and I purchased it and registered it back in Florida( my legal state of residence). All without issue. The vehicle is currently in San Antonio TX (I am active duty military and currently stationed here.)
I have invested 10s of thousands of dollars into this vehicle, and fully realize I will not see a return on my investment. My intent was to never sell, but keep it as a project/daily driver and overlanding adventure wagon. The reason I am selling is because my wife and I have decided to purchase an RV, and selling the Defender is a necessity before we can make our next purchase. I will continue to work on and fix things on it as it stays on the market. I do not NEED to sell. I am not in a financial bind, so please do not feel the need to lowball offers.
I welcome all serious buyers. Please contact me with questions or if you need specific photos. I uploaded the limit on here, and can type for days about this lovely machine. I welcome and encourage all inspections. I can also refer you to my local Land Rover specialist shop who has done a majority of the work. I have sold a handful of vehicles on here and all have been positive experiences.
As this is my 2nd Defender, I should be able to address most questions. I am not an expert, or a car flipper, just a normal guy who appreciates vehicles. I am confident you will not find another Defender in the US like this, and definitely not at this price. There are much tougher examples out there for selling for thousands more than this one. So good luck!
Please excuse any typos. I typed all this on my phone. Please note, all photos are recent, except for the restoration photos and photo that shows the original paint color. If it does not sell, I do not plan to immediately re-list
