Description of 1980 Land Rover Defender County

This is a 1987 Landrover (not 1980) 110 County Station Wagon, CSW, 3.5 V8 petrol right hand drive, 5 speed box (Reverse is next to 1st)

This Landy is in the United Kingdom in West Sussex very near to Gatwick airport, LGW.

I will not do any of the shipping, if you buy it you must make arrangements for the shipping from my address to yours.

This Landy has been in my family since 2003, it was my uncles before he sold it to me in September 2007. In 2008 it was my lovely wife's transport to our wedding.

It's not a pretty, pampered Landy. Think more 'Mater' from Cars, it's his nickname after all! He's got some knocks, some rust, but the chassis and bulkhead are sound, as is the engine. He's been used and loved. The photos are as cruel as I could be so there are no surprises! It is 32 years old after all

Since my uncle and I have owned him, we have always run it on Castrol Magnatec oil as it's got clinging particles that protect the big alloy block from start up

I have fitted numerous replacement bits to it and have receipts for any works I didn't do, like brakes etc. I fitted a new radiator, viscous coupling and genuine Landrover thermostat 5 years ago, it had a new clutch master cylinder in the last 5 years too.

New rear cross member and fuel tank in 2009, replacement suspension sometime after. In the last 3 years its had new tyres and brand new spare wheel and tyre, handmade ¾ stainless steel exhaust system, new front discs and pads (the original ones had just worn to a level that the MOT tester mentioned it, 30 years old!) Transfer box and diff locks all work fine, the stainless exhaust gives it a nice burble that's not over the top.

The clutch release bearing rumbles likes its dry and has been like that since my Uncle had it.

It comes with a whole heap of bits and bobs and spare bits, some brand-new, others original bits that are still serviceable. 3 manuals for it, plus a heap of historic paperwork including the original handbook and owners name and details, see photos.

Its mileage may go up slightly from the photo as it is used a few times a week, and if the weather turns nasty the motorbike stays in the garage these days. Its current yearly road safety test, MOT in the UK, runs out next September.

We are not in rush to sell it, any stupid offers will be ignored, it's breaking my heart to let it go as I know so much about it and its history, and it was my wedding car! there's only a handful of these left on the roads if the UK but new travel plans mean I can't keep it.

It is advertised locally so may be pulled from sale. Email me for any more info and photos

Good luck, if you win it please pay deposit by Paypal within 24hrs, the rest to be paid by bank transfer. If no payment within 24hrs then it will be re-advertised.
