Description of 1988 Land Rover Defender |
Extremely rare ex-Australian Army Land Rover Defender 110 4dr hard top, project code name"Perentie". I brought thisover with me when I moved back a few years ago and now its time to sell... Comparable to a Land Rover Defender 110 but with the followingextras as ordered standard by the Oz army: - Isuzu 3.9L, 4-cyl diesel (an extremely capable and universalengine; easy to maintain; original engine; standard equipment for most 110s in Oz) - severalfolks have mentioned the engine will last 1,000,000kms- LT95A 4-speed transmission (upgraded over the LT85) - Full-time 4WD with a central diff locker - Salisbury / GKN rear axle - Long travel, coil spring suspension on front and rear axles. Fully floating rear axle - Hot galvanized frame (no rust underneath and very little oxidation of the aluminum / aluminium body panels) - EXTREMELY RARE 4dr hardtop (only ~75 created out of 3500 Perenties); "Passenger 4x4" variant, including back seat and rear seat - Front bull bar and rear winch points - NATO Pintle hitch - Two back Jerry can holders and tworear tool pockets - A set of original bonnet "gardening" toolsincluded, but not shown in the pictures (an axe, pick axe and shovel) and some other Defense tools - 12V electrical - Blackout LEDs all around and reduced lighting lamps on front - Sweet ass camo paint job - Original service record (both physical and scanned) from its time in the service - Full light, medium and heavy repair manuals / parts lists from theArmy - 196,000km on the dash (~121,000miles); dash is all metric Misc notes: - TB2560 Zeki turbo installed w/ custom crossover pipe- Hard box included in back (the same tubs used for shipping Defense equipment around the world) - Fuel rack and internal / external fuel cans (35gals of gas total) and 2x water cans (all plastic Scepter cans)- Center console created from ammo boxes - Decent set of tools possibly included (negotiable; I used the truck as a mobile work shop for my other cars)- Needs tires soon-ish; needs an oil change soon-ish - Powder coated rims- Shocks and bushes - Feb 2020 - New starter - The biggest issue currently is that the blinkers don't work consistently; jiggling the fuse makes them work- All my service / work from my time owning it as well as receipts (including many oil analysis / reports) As was described to me by the LR Australia Defense contact: thesetrucks were maintained without regard to cost.I havent had any significant issues with it; the only bothers are the few rattlesfrom age and things sometimes wearing out. I've been 4WDing with thesetrucks and they handle sand and trail better than most trucks with over $30k ofmods. Surprisingly fuel efficient(22-24mpg around town). I'm an engineerwho uses this truck as my daily driver so its been maintained scrupulously anddriven responsibly. I’ve owned it foralmost 6yrs so most of the post-auction bugs have been worked out. I have handled 6 of these over the past 8yrsand this is in top nick, mate PLEASE NOTE: - The truck is currently in the US / Memphis with TN registrationand titling - It is right hand drive- It doesnt have power steering, A/C, a radio or a phone plug. Old school...- More pictures upon request. Also, its my daily driver so its not in pristine condition On Jun-29-22 at 13:42:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added 2 pics of the engine (not sure why I didnt think to include those originally), and a pic of a dent in the hoodAlso, the underside of the engine has oil on some of the surfaces (as all Land Rovers should, right?), but when checking the oil to make sure the level is high enough, it always is |
