1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible Sedan, 4 door convertible, BARN FIND!!!

This auction is for abarn find 1961 incoln Continental convertible sedan (the actual correct term for these 4-door convertibles). I recently got it from a guy whose grandfather parked it over 20 years ago, stensibly with a broken brake line. He told me that it also had no spark. The engine turns over nicely with the key. I replaced the points, oil and spark plugs and it now has spark. It hasfired up several times, ut won't keep running yet. I now think the problem's in the timing; maybe the distributor gear installed a couple teeth off. I'll keep working on it this week and hope to have it running within the next couple days. I checked the gas tank and it was empty and clean. Someone installed an electric fuel pump and the gas it pushes up from the tank is clean, o I left it. The engine is a 1962, ut it's the correct 430, barrel that it should have. The previous ownertold me that early in the car's life, ay back in the 1960's, omeone dropped a bolt down the carb and it trashed the original engine, o it was replaced with one a year newer. The car only has 84,190 miles on it. This car originally came with 14" wheels and tires. It currently has 15" wheels and tires, ut theyhave some dry-rot from storage and should be replaced. The car does have a set of 15" wheel covers (3 matching and the 4th slightly different) but they are not shown in the photos.The body looks like it was repainted long ago, ut is not in bad shape. It does have a little filler, ut it seems like it's only around the rear wheel wells. The only place it has rust through is behind the rear wheels. But there are some replacement patches welded into the floor, o I think they repaired some rust whenever it was repainted. The only other body damage is a couple of minor dents in the LR quarter, isible in the photos.The tops are always problems on these caars because of how complex the mechanism is. This one starts the cycle using the top switch, o that's a good start. The trunk opens (backward) and the flip-up panel comes up. The next step in the sequence is for the motors to unlatch the top frame from the windshield. The cover for these is off and they did not activate, o that would be the next step in troubleshooting it. Then, hey hydraulics kick in to lift the top and the hydraulic cylinders are apart, o it looks like someone started working on them at one time. The top itself only had a few shreads left, o I removed them. I found a website that offers these tops for only $280, hich I didn't think was too bad. The car was parked inside all these years, o it has not been stored out in the weather. The mice have been at it somewhat, ut not nearly as badas some other cars I've had. The front leather seat is usable and not torn up, ut very dry from all the years in storage. I'm using leather conditioner on it and it's sofetning up. The rear seat is missing, ut I have a replacement on order. It will be included with the car and it's even the forrect color. Due to the age of the leather, nd assuming that the replacement rear seat won't be an exact match, he seats should be redyed; not a major problem or expense.
