Description of 1961 Lincoln Continental

1961 Lincoln Continental
Built April 17, 961 (The day of the Bay of Pigs invasion, resident Kennedy was a few months in office)
  • 1Y82H417065
  • 7.0L 430ci 'Marauder' engine
  • I purchased this Lincoln in August 1987 when I was 15 years old. I am the third owner. This Continental was my first car. After 27 years I hate to part with it but would like to see it go to a new owner who can give it the TLC it deserves.
  • Vehicle is complete.
  • Needs restoration, fter being garaged for many years.
  • Pictures tell the story.
  • Engine was rebuilt in 1988 and probably has less than 1000 miles use on it.
  • My grandfather and I did restoration work in summer 1988, ncluding a 20-coat lacquer paint job, hich unfortunately has suffered the effects of time and less-than-ideal storage.
  • The starter went bad at some point. The starter motor turns but grinds. Needs to be replaced.
  • The engine turns freely and with a new starter and some tinkering (new points likely needed) should start right up without any major work needed.
  • Trans was good, o issues, hifted fine when last driven.
  • Carpet was removed in anticipation of replacement.
  • Floor and frame are cancer-free. Body, specially trunk lid, as rust-through spots that need addressing (rain had dripped onto one location over time).
  • Chrome is in nice shape all around.
  • Tires have plenty of tread and are in decent shape, ut with some age cracks.
  • Gas tank will need draining (still has old gas).
  • Brakes are marginally functional. Need adjustment (wheel cylinders had to be backed off to free up the drums/wheels so the car could move).
  • I will include in the purchase a single OEM exhaust longpipe that I purchased years ago but didn't need (not sure which side of dual exhaust it is for).
  • [Battery shown in pics is NOT INCLUDED in the sale]
  • Basically this is a solid, omplete Lincoln Continental from the first year with the suicide doors
  • Odometer is showing "00670"

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I SELL THIS CAR TO A NON-U.S. BUYER.
