Description of 1966 Lincoln Continental

The 1966 Lincoln Continental was the first year for the coupe body and the 462 CID V8 engine. This Lincoln is one remarkable car because it has survived 49 years without being restored or modified into a low rider with big wheels or made into to a pro touring car. This car has its' original Royal Maroon paint that is in fantastic condition considering its' age. The Lincoln was sheltered from the sun and kept in a heated garage by the second owner for the past 38 years. While in Florida under the care of the first owner the car was garage kept.
The second owner acquired the car in 1976 from the daughter of the original owner. At that time it had approximately 37K original miles on the odometer. It currently has just shy of 53K original miles. The original owner purchased the car new in Florida where he passed on in 1976. Both of these gentlemen were very dedicated custodians of this classic maintaining in it in such a way as preserve this "time capsule" like it was when delivered new. The second owner went so far as to keep parts that were replaced, ith exception of normal maintenance items. These items are currently in the trunk as can be seen in the pictures. There is no rust on this car. The undercarriage still retains its' original red oxide paint and under coating.
Owner two, as a judge for the Lincoln Continental Owners club. In part, his Lincoln was the basis for the establishment of the1966 - 1969 Lincoln Authenticity Manual used for judging purposes because of its originality. The Lincoln has scored between low 90's to a high of 98 out of 100 points in National LCOC Meets adding to the provenance of this vehicle. All judging sheets will be passed on to the new owner of this vehicle. Other documentation included, re numerous service records over the past 38 years and the very rare BUILD SHEET. The car was not a trailer queen. It was driven on a regular basis and to judging meets. IT HAS NEVER SEEN SNOW OR SALT!!!!!
All glass is like it was delivered when new, o chips, racks or de-lamination. The paint on this original car is truly remarkable and shows very little signs of its' age. There are a few thin spots, othing obvious, nd some touch up for minor chips or scratches. No dings or dents on the body. The finish is very bright and has a great shine. The vinyl top is in fantastic condition, o cracks. peeling, r dull spots.All the chrome and bright work is in "like new condition" a small scratch on the top side of the rear bumper. No pitting or rust.
New Diamond Back radial tires. The white walls on these tires will not yellow. They have a specially formulated white rubber compound to maintain a whiter white wall. Rims are original, s well as the hub caps.
The interior of the Lincoln is in beautiful condition with the contrast of the white leather against black carpet and dash pad. The leather has a nice patina show some characteristics of normal wear for a 49 year old vehicle. No rips or tears in the seats, arpets, r door panels. The white headliner is in very good condition with a few minor nicks toward the rear of the compartment. Dash pad and gauges are all in very nice condition. Black carpets look like new. The owner always put a towel under his feet so as not to soil the carpets.
Air conditioning blows cold, eat blow warm. Power windows all operate as they should. The power seats tilts, oves up and down but the forward backward movement in inoperable ( the motor runs but does not move forward/backward). Maybe a solenoid. You can compensate by adjusting tilt to some degree. Power antennae and am radio works. Does have 8-track player not sure if it work don't have any cassettes to test its' functionality.
Engine runs smooth and strong, o smoking or burning oil. Some minor leaks near front of engine. Runs cool does not overheat. Compartment is as it was when delivered, o rust or heavy road grime and not restored. Retains all original finishes. Transmission shifts smoothly and firm. The vehicle rides like new, o rattles or squeaks.
Therefore, f you are looking for a true time capsule that has withstood the test of time THIS IS THE ONE!!!!
