Description of 1968 Lincoln Continental |
hi. thanks for checking out this auctionup for sale is my 1968 Lincoln continental coupe. the coupe is a RARE car from Lincoln. which came with the 460CI ford v8 engine and the c6 transmission with a 2. 72 rear end gear ratio. they only made 9. 00 of these cars TOTAL! I've done all the hard work for you. This car is currently in a covered storage unit. and has been there since nov 1. ========================OVER $20. 00 Invested========================This car started out as a solid. very little rust car that came from nebraska. the engine was basically toast. and while it ran. it burned a TON of oil. we found out why. the valve stem seals had turned into hard plastic and disintegrated. All the little plastic bits were blocking oil passages. and the PCV system was not properly configured whatsoever. I took this car to a master mechanic for the drive train to be COMPLETELY overhauled. The original 460 engine had some bearing wear as to be expected. So we got that yanked out. torn down. bored . 30 over with new pistons. rods. bearings. push rods. and harland sharp roller rockers. we then added a new water pump. rebuilt the power steering pump. and added a mild edelbrock camshaftand rpm 460 performer edelbrock intake manifold to match the 650 edelbrock carb that sits on top of it. I then added electronic ignition. and double roller chain gear set. new wires. plugs. K&N filter. a new radiator. nbsp;new rebuilt alternator. and oil pump all with new seals. and gaskets all the way around. the transmission is still a c6 ford transmission. but it now comes equipped with a total overhaul and rebuild with a nice shift kit. the rear end was an original 2. 72 ford 9 5/8" which we have swapped over to a normal FORD 9" 3. 70 gear set. totally rebuilt and setup by a master mechanic here in rochster. ny. then the exhaust was built by hand at "the muffler shop II" here in Rochester. NY as well. and is now a true dual 2. 25" exhaust running through thrush turbo mufflers. it sounds AMAZING. ======================BODY RESTORATION======================Ebay won't let me post a link where you can see about 300 pictures of the restoration as we documented everything. so send me a message and ill send it to you. here's what we addednew chrome badges all the way around. custom glove box stereo installation. with an added pair of door speakers. and rear deck speakers. along with a 12" alpine sub and mild amp to run it. custom finished trunk COMPLETE BC Fabrications air ride system which is hidden behind the rear seat. this kit eliminates the rear leaf springs and adds a 4link suspension under the car to run the air ride. it has a 10lb tank. full controls. and the upgraded air management manifold for easy clean installation. the body had 2 rust spots and if you hit the link above you can see how they were fixed and professionally restored. the paint is amazing. and the finish is clean. this is not a frame off restoration. but it didnt need to be. ===========================What it's like to own this car===========================It feels like I'm a celebrity when im in this car. people will stop me all the time and ask questions. at car shows. crowds gather when you air out. and or air up before you leave. it's a freaking attention MAGNET. ================the good================it starts. runs and drives with ZERO problems every time. it's an attention grabbing MONSTER. people literally lose their minds over this car. ================the bad===============Needs the drive shaft re-balancedNeeds a speedometer cableCruise doesn't workNeeds an air compressor and refill for the AC to work properly againneeds the air management gone through. there's a slow leak in one of the lines and the tank empties itself over night (not a horrible problem. just not perfect) |
