Description of 1988 Lincoln Town Car |
Forget those new Lincoln commercials (and the spoofs). This is your chance to drive Mickey Haller's (Matthew McConaughey's) original car from the book and film "The Lincoln Lawyer" -- same year (1988). same color (Midnight Blue). This car would be great as a daily driver. or as the basis for a restoration. either full or partial. Or. if you're already restoring an 1980 series Town Car. this vehicle would be an excellent source for parts. The car is currently DC licensed as an historic vehicle. I'm the second owner of this car. When I bought it in early 2002. it had about 45. 00 miles on the odometer. and had been driven very little in the prior 10 years. It was my daily driver for 11 years. until August 2013. Soon after I purchased it. I installed an aftermarket engine pre-lube system. The system injects pressurized oil into the gallery the moment ignition switch is activated. so that the bearings are floated as the engine turns over. When the system is active. every start is a warm start. There have probably only been a few dozen cold starts for the last 120. 00 miles (mostly after oil changes). It's a passive system that uses just a solenoid and a pressure tank (see photo). Since the car was my daily driver. I maintained it in top mechanical condition. The photographs of individual under-hood components are just a few of the items which have been replaced in the last few years: AC compressor and dryer. radiator. serpentine belts. master brake cylinder and battery. All the work was done by the same garage. I can provide many of those service records. After I replaced emissions-related hoses about five years ago. the car has passed both Maryland and DC tests with low numbers. The only notable mechanical issue at present is a leaky power steering pump. The car comes with the original ("wire") wheel covers. a few spare parts. and a complete set of shop manuals. |
