Description of 1988 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series |
"What a Luxury Car Should Be." That was the tagline of the Lincoln advertising campaign in 1988 and it is perhaps more true today, than it was when it was first coined! Here is a classic, 1988 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series in white with blue cloth interior. It is the last of the formal Lincoln Town Cars and comes with the legendary 5.0 Liter V8 engine with fuel injection. This vehicle is in fine condition. It runs and drives very well. Maintained by a Lincoln aficionado and all the tune-ups and oil changes have received regular maintenance. The interior is more luxurious than a Rolls Royce or Maybach. Sumptuous blue velour seats in this interior are completely free of tears, wear and are *incredibly* comfortable! Floating down the highway was the goal of the Town Car and this goal is achieved admirably. There is room for six full size adults in this interior, an increasing rarity almost unavailable in the luxury car world of 2019. The dash features simulated rosewood paneling and it looks magnificent contrasting off of the royal blue! This car has been treated to a dealer equipped "special edition package" which includes wide white wall radial tires and aluminum wire wheels with center caps. All the caps are present, none missing. It looks spectacular and extremely distinctive! Very few were equipped and almost none remainwith this compliment garnering package! The trunk is large enough to fit several golf club bags and still have room for weekend getaway luggage...and still more room for a few shopping bags! As with most cars of this vintage there are some issues and this vehicle has some of its own. Windows don't roll down/up or they roll down/up intermittently. The power antenna doesn't go up and down anymore. Like most cars of this vintage, the car leaks some fluids such as oil and transmission fluid. The vinyl roof has cracks that come with age. The paint and body has chips and minor dings, but is still original 1988 paint - which is amazing. Mileage on the 5 digit odometer reads 19033, but at some point in the car's ownership the odometer reading was recorded, after the mechanical capacity had been exceeded, as 3390 miles. The mileage is believed to be 119,033 but actual mileage is not known with certainty. No accidents, fire or flood damage exist. The power door locks work, as does the power trunk pull down. Power brakes, steering, air conditioning and electric window defrost still all work. The keyless entry system on the driver's door works. Even both of the opera lamps work on this vehicle - something which is almost unheard of! And they look spectacular at night! Coolest opera lamps ever made for a luxury car! The exhaust, power steering and brakes rotors and pads are all fresh. The car drives reliably and is suitable as a daily driver or a Sunday special occasion driver. Driving this car is a time warp to the era of the big American luxury car and provides an experience that can't be matched by any car made today. "What a Luxury Car Should Be." |
