What you see in the pictures is an extremely rare, low mileage and well-maintained Calypso Red 1991 North American Elan M100. (Turbo) It has around 39,000 miles and will continue to increase, albeit slowly. The red paint has been recently refreshed. It's not a show car, but it looks very good, as those who attended LOG36 can attest. (The annual Lotus Owners Gathering.) The interior in excellent condition. It comes with a clear (NY) Title, 3 sets of keys and a complete service and parts binder. See pictures. These are rare. The vehicle also comes with a Lotus car cover. A Bluetooth head unit is the only non-oem change on the interior. The car starts right up, and has the service and maintenance attention to ensure it will stay reliable for the next owner. As Lotus Elan aficionados know, this car can serve as a daily driver or a weekend getaway vehicle. The car comes with new rotors, brake pads, battery, and tires. (1,200 miles to date.) I was unsure whether the gas tank recall was performed. As such, I purchased a new, tested, OEM tank from the UK. Had it shipped to the US, and installed by a certified mechanic. I didn't have issues with it before. But to me, this is one of those things I had to do. A performance chip has been added to the ECU. It works flawlessly, and adds about 40 horsepower according to other M100 owners. (I have not put the car on the dyno.) The soft top is about two years new and looks very good. Goes up and down swiftly. And is nearly water resistant. All fluids are up to date, and hoses and belts are either brand new, or in very good condition.
The timing belt has not been changed. It has been looked at by a certified Lotus mechanic and was told it is in good condition. The heated mirrors work. The AC blows quite cool. A brand new exhaust system from PNM Engineering has been installed. (It sounds great.) Visit the PNM Engineering site and look at the Lotus Elan M100 product. The vehicle was just at LOG36, and received quite a few compliments. If the reserve price is reached, I will include a new in-boxshort shifter cable system made to improve the reliability and feel of the shifting. It was a $500 purchase. And is still in the box. (Haven't installed it yet, as the current shifting mechanism works fine.)
Notes:
(i) Mileage can change, as the car is being driven lightly. It is also for sale locally. The auction can end before the 7 days. (ii) I tried to describe the car as well as I know it. It is about 25 years old. It is sold AS IS. I encourage buyers to come and check it out or have it inspected.
