Barn finds are always have a unique story and so does this 1971 Lotus Europa S2. Purchased in the mid 1970's from the original owner 73,000 original mile Lotus was parked in 1982 in a basement garage never to be driven again. The second owner, who by then had amassed a nice collection of vehicles, had a storied life first serving his country in WWII overseas and then again year later returning to Europe to serve once again in a different capacity. He was a successful business man, an avid race car driver and a an astute car collector purchasing a Bentley RHD in England, sending it back to the states only to send it back to the factory in the mid 80's for a full restoration. The Lotus Europa was a pretty cool car with its 4 cylinder 87 hp single carb Renault engine and 4 speed transmission it was nimble and quick for its time with a 9.3 to 60 time, it short wheel base and low ride height it was an aerodynamic work of art! This is an all original car that has never been restored or modified. The car will need some moderate restoration and currently is not running or drive able but will turn over. I am selling the car in with a fixed reserve and will accept serious offers. These cars have been appreciating in today's market place and this one would make a great keeper. The car is located at my work in Rockville MD and can be seen Monday to Saturday. Please do not hesitate to message me with any questions you may have. I can help arrange shipping if you are not local.
