Description of 1962 Lotus 22 |
Sadly, my father passed away this past March and as a result I am selling his Lotus 22. He purchased the car in 2008and raced it for several years. A meticulous mechanic, he spent his retirement fine tuning all aspects of the car. His mechanical skills and excellent driving resulted in him getting 5th place at the 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Formula Junior race (link to race video herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiOvr0EpcW4&t=157s). He retired from racing in 2013 and the Lotus 22 has been in storage since that time. This Lotus is superb mechanical condition. It has 20 hours on the Richardson engine with a rebuilt Richardson head that has 4 hours of run time This 1962 Lotus 22 is chassis number 22-F3-40. In 1990, in the hands of Michael John Lape, at the Monoposto Register Championship, it earned 1st in class and 2nd overall winner. In 1994, with Nick Holt at the wheel, it won the Wine Country Classic Presentation and Performance Award. From 1997 through 2007, Ned Spieker drove it in 33 races in Northern California. He obtained the FIA passport for the car and subsequently raced it in Europe in 2003. From 2007 - 2013 it was raced in 22 events by my father, Philip R Trenholme, including three appearances at the Monterey Historics. When Philip bought the Lotus 22 from Ned Spieker the log books were not complete and did not include the events that Mike Lape and Nick Holt competed in. The first event listed in the log book is November 13, 1998 at Coronado; however, the signature of the driver is difficult to read. The second event listed is March 27, 1999 at Laguna Seca with Ned Spieker as the driver. Documented history shows that after Michael Lape purchased the car it was fully restored for $53,000 in 1998, which included a replacement frame (a letter written by Michael documents this). Philip completed a full mechanical restoration of the car during his ownership and the current condition of the car reflects that. Included in sale of the Lotus are as follows: Log Book #9811C129 (HMSA issued) Spare set of Blank Body panels painted green Spare set of wavy wheels Open older trailer (local purchase only) Extensive records and notes (over 200 pages) Bill of sale from previous owner Assorted spare parts |
