1966 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE SERIES II: --Dark Blue with Blue leather interior, Blue carpeting, 4.2 liter V8 engine, 5-Speed ZF manual transmission, Styled by Frua and built by Vignale, Rare 1 of 437 Series II cars, Highly original, 55,000 original miles, Matching Numbers, Air conditioning, Power windows. The Quattroporte, meaning “four door†in Italian, was unveiled at the Turin motor show in 1963. It was designed by Frua and constructed by Vignale. The Quattroporte competed in the ultra-luxury saloon market against the Aston Martin Lagonda Rapide and the Facel Vega. The elegant Quattroporte with its top speed of 143mph was easily the fastest four-door saloon of its era. For the Series II launched in 1966, the Quattroporte added twin headlights and redesigned the interior, now with a full width wood facia and integrated climate control. Just 437 Series II Quattroportes were produced with the 4.2 liter engine and its four Weber carburetors. This Quattroporte is highly original throughout. The interior is showing an honest patina that has been well-preserved throughout the years. Formerly owned by the curator of the Riverside International Automotive Museum in California, it has remained in collector ownership for most of its life. Always serviced and maintained regardless of use, this 55,000 original mile Quattroporte was recently fully serviced and has received a new clutch assembly. This excellent matching numbers Quattroporte is an iconic example from Maserati’s luscious racing and grand touring car heritage. It is ready for immediate use and enjoyment and a welcomed addition to a single garage or collection alike.
