Description of 1988 Mazda RX-7 Convertible Convertible 2-Door |
I was a boy with my dad when he walked into the dealership and bought this phenomenal convertible sports car. He always kept the car garaged, which lends to it's current good condition. He put less than 10,000 miles on it. Since I've owned the car--15 years now--I put less than 65,000 miles on it. That's less than 5k per year. At different times, it's served as a pleasure car or a commuter for me. I've also taken it on long road trips up and down the pacific coast. Whenever possible I've always garaged the car, and in the instances I couldn't, I used a car cover. The vehicle is all stock (and ready for a turbo charge if you're into that kind of thing). I've used a reputable mechanic in Berkeley, California to service the vehicle (service records are available from mechanic, which actually may not amount to much since this car has been the most reliable I've ever owned). Regular oil and filter changes every 3,000. I rarely drop the top, I have too many vehicles, this is the natural one to sell. See pictures for condition, but I would say the interior is in excellent condition except for the floor mats. The exterior is in fair condition. You can see from the photos a few areas of less than perfection: (1) The car has a visible dent in the rear driver side, down low. (2) There is a grazing on and off scratch in the paint on the driver side. It touches the rear panel and the driver door. This scratch didn't penetrate down to metal. (3) There is a small paint chip on rear passenger side. (4) There is some dimpling on the driver-side door. (5) A shallow dimple/ dent on the front passenger-side corner. Power windows work, power top works, radio works; I don't have any tapes to test the cassette player, but last I knew it worked. The speakers are original and do not produce great sound. The air conditioning cranks out very cold air. And the heat is hot. Engine starts and runs fine. Original ownership packet (manual, maintenance guide, etc.) from dealership is available for inspection and is included with the sale minus any personal documents. Also, included is a basic car cover. The original vinyl convertible top cover is included as well (pictured in shots with top down). Many RX-7s of this vintage will not have this cover. I found this insurance company that specializes in classic cars. You'll find great information at this link: https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1988-Mazda-RX~7?id=60938 This is, of course, a used car and is sold as is. Buyer shall conduct any inspections before bidding. Presently located in Oakland, California. Oregon registration. Buyer shall pick up car in Oakland. I will consider personally delivering to California, Oregon, or Washington at buyers cost. Buyer should be prepared to pay with cash. I will consider accepting venmo payment. I will try to answer any questions by updating this listing with a Q&A section. |
