Description of 1984 Mazda RX-7 GS

Blending revolutionary technology and attractive styling, this 1984 Mazda RX7 GS would be quite a score for the sports car enthusiast searching for something truly unique. This rolling conversation piece is also an agile performer that's come through three decades in strong fashion - it's solid in every respect and ready to provide its new owner with many miles of future driving enjoyment at a very attainable price. The designers at Mazda certainly did their homework.... Realizing that the United States market would be a key factor in their long-term success, they set about determining just what aesthetics appealed to American buyers and drew inspiration from several popular models, most notably the Porsche 944. While it may have been an approach much more pragmatic than artistic, it was especially effective. This particular RX7 represents the model well, sporting a Sunrise Red exterior that's still in stock configuration and was refreshed in its original color a little while back. Being the beneficiary of consistent care yields dividends - despite its 35 years of service, this remains a well-aligned car, with clean glass surrounding the cabin and contrasting black trim that's in surprisingly good shape. The featured pop-up headlights, so often an Achilles heel in cars of this era, sit all the way down when not in use and raise into position without issue. Inside, the gray high-backed bucket seats are nicely bolstered to provide support for more spirited driving and they straddle a clean center console. While you can see some subtle signs of the passing years on the cloth surfaces of the seating, rest assured that this is a cockpit that's ready to be enjoyed as soon as you get it home. Up front, the red-tinted gauges in the instrument cluster remain easily readable, while just to their right, the controls positioned at the center of the dash look surprisingly modern, given this Mazda's venerable age. An AM/FM/Cassette stereo is on board to provide your personal soundtrack while on the road. The air-conditioning blows with plenty of force but will need a Freon charge to return to full capacity. Especially during this current weather, the sunroof is a welcome feature and it's in good working order, opening and closing smoothly and sealing properly to keep the elements out. Open the hatch in back and you'll be surprised at how much space awaits you - plenty for suitcases to accommodate a weekend excursion. At the time this car rolled off the line, Mazda was synonymous with rotary engine technology that not only extracted maximum power from minimum displacement, but also allowed for a compact motor that could be positioned relatively far back towards the windshield in the engine bay, affording the RX7 with an enviable weight distribution ratio that makes it pleasingly agile while negotiating turns. In this case, the engine in question also happens to be the original powerplant and it's running well, assisted by some recent attention that included a full tune up and the installation of new plug wires and belts. It pairs with a 4-speed automatic transmission that rounds out a very solid drivetrain - this sporty classic really drives nicely. Power brakes that include discs up front bring prompt stops as this inspired blend of style and technology rides on its set of stock 13" wheels, outfitted with Kumho tires that appear to have quite a bit of tread left on them. Innovative technology and engineering combine with a timeless form to make this 1984 Mazda RX7 GS a unique sports car that's a lot of fun to drive. Call today!
