Description of 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata |
For sale is a 1992 Mazda Miata 1.6L Base Model with a 5Spd Manual . Let me be very clear about this car! It is being sold as a PROJECT CAR, and NOT as a car which is suitable to be daily driven yet! While the car DOES run and drive, the car’s cooling system does not allow for it to drive more than 15 or so minutes without overheating (amongst a few other issues). It is 1000% my recommendation to take this car with you on a trailer should you choose to buy it. The full responsibility for this car will fall upon the buyer for how to safely transport it after purchase. That said, the car DOES (as stated before) run and drive, and I am happy to allow short test drives to allow any potential buyers to try it out. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR FOR SOMEBODY! I purchased this car knowing it would need work, but I have had to accept that I will never have the time or energy (or permission) at my apartment complex to get it where it needs to be. I have another NA Miata which is museum quality, and wanted something similar with some imperfections to where I could modify it without guilt. Unfortunately this car has some things that I just can’t get around to fixing without a lift and/or garage. LIST OF KNOWN ISSUES: -Cooling system (overheats after 15 minutes) -Wheel studs - missing a stud from pretty much each wheel bearing on each wheel. -Exhaust - modified or has a leak currently. -Soft top - has a leak in the rear window. Interior has experienced rain as a result -Minor rust along side skirts in front of rear wheel arches -Parasitic draw - something is causing battery to go flat, currently on a battery disconnect but still does not hold charge long. May need alternator -Bumps, scrapes, faded paint, etc. -Missing hardware, panels, etc. in interior. -Suspension VERY worn out -Small oil leak HOWEVER, this is the PERFECT base for somebody looking to take one of these cars and strip it down, replace/modify everything and make it something fun (which is what I wanted to do when I originally bought it). People who track these and need a cheap base for a SPEC Miata car, people who want to build a show car, or autocross car where everything will be replaced anyways, you name it. There are also a few fixes I HAVE done, such as: -Non-ethanol gas (since it has been sitting so much) -Battery disconnect -New cooling fan -New coolant temp sensors by thermo and on back of engine -Full coolant flush -New spark plugs and ignition coil leads I know (and am friends with) many EXPERTS on these cars who could probably have all of these issues fixed in a day or two. Some of these Miata people (YOU might be one of them) blow my mind with just how knowledgeable they are on these cars and how quickly they can diagnose, fix, and improve any problems or issues. Unfortunately, I am not one of those experts. Thus, I am looking to sell this car to someone who can make use of it. I am starting the bidding at $0.01. I do not want ANYBODY to be ‘ripped off’, or to feel ripped off, deceived, or in any way tricked or unaware of what they are getting themselves into. I am 10000% not here to try and capitalize on any profits from selling. $0.01 is still $0.01 more to me than if I leave it here sitting unable to work on it. I would rather take any and all losses from my original purchase and at least get this car to somebody who can make it right and enjoy it. If you have ANY questions at ALL about this vehicle, PLEASE reach out to me about it. I am happy to help. I can and will NOT be shipping the vehicle. This will be local pickup only. If you would like to arrange shipping, the shipping truck must arrive at my location to receive the vehicle. Comes with title, currently inspected and registered for the next 11 months. |
