I am selling my 1982 MB 280 sl. If you do not know the difference between this car and all the other 107 sl Models I suggest you move on,because you will not understand what makes these cars special. I HAD TO PUT A FAKE VIN BECAUSE THIS CAR IS A PRIVATE IMPORT AND WAS NEVER IMPORTED BY MERCEDES ! This car has a straight six cylinder engine and a five speed transmission. There are only a hand full of 6 cylinder 5 speed Imports in the us.If anybody knows how many 5 speed 280 sl (107) were made I would seriously like to know.The chance that you run into one on the road are around zero. This car is good on gas and a joy to drive, ery zippy. I have had her since 2011 and haveenjoyed her very much. She comes with a hard top and a soft top. She has various dings and scratches you will only see up close. She also had a brush by on the drivers door, hat is very hard to see on any photo. (see driver side door photo) She is in wonderful driving condition and I wanted to keep heruntil she reaches a certain value and then restore. Alas, hings change and I am looking for an RV now. If you have one let me kno, lease. (no Junk ). I have placed an add in the Mercedes Star magazine for July, o she will be moving on toanother home, hopefully a goodhome one way or another. The only problem I have had with her is that the automatic windows started to go up or down for no reason at allevery so often, hen you don,t expect it. It is some kind of an electric Gremlin. I replaced the switches and it made no difference. Both motors are still good. The air condition does not work, owever, believe all components are there, ut I had the belt removed to save gas. There is very little rust on this car, ome surface rust, ut nothing serious that I have found. Since the car came used from Germany it has thetypical undercarriage coating most of them have,but that was too much for Didier to understand....... It is called UNTERBODENSCHUTZ ............. JAWOHL...... The last Photo shows the loose end of one of the door pockets. I had the front bumper removed and preserved some metal behind it for a later restoration. You can have many more years of joy out of this car, specially with the top down. These cars and especially these engines are famous for running "forever" . I only use Castrol oil on all my vehicles and then add a good amount of lucas oil additive every 3 months or 3000 Miles when I change the oil. Prices for these cars in Europe and particularly in Germany are tightening nicely, ome are $ 20 000 and more. I strongly suggest that you come see the car before you buy it, oavoid any misunderstandings. I discourage scammers to even try. The car will only leave when I have the funds IN MY HAND.
