Description of 1970 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series |
The original owner stopped driving the car and it sat in the building parking garage that it had been kept in since new. We just put it in the shop and they drained the old gasoline and put in a battery. It runs and drives pretty good. Feels good on the road, t is fairly tight. When I picked it up from the Mercedes shop, he power steering seemed fine, ut now it is not feeling like power steering. The front power windows work fine, nd I did not check the others. The original leather is nice and supple, ut as you can see from the photos it has some tears. The original carpets are in ok condition under the monogrammed carpeted floor mats. The undercarriage is fairly solid, ut you can see from the photos that it has some rot. As you can see, here is bubbling in the paint....mainly in the wheel opening lips. The trunk is pretty clean except for the well on the left, lthough that just has minimal surface rust and looks worse then it is. That well looks excellent original and unrusted from the underside. As you can see from the photos, have not touched the exterior, ut I am sure the chrome would clean up a lot. The pitting will certainly not be as bad if it is polished. Where the car was parked, here was a building pipe overhead and it had dripped some rusty water, nd that is why you see a little brown stain at the front edge of the driver's door and it extends down to the rocker panel in that area. The staining would easily clean off. The actual mileage is unknown but is said to be over 300,000 miles. The original owner drove the car back and forth between Washington D.C. and Texas regularly, o the car had a lot of highway miles. This is a car for a partial or full restoration, o you are buying it as-is with no warranty.
